I know that other people have posted on here with similar problems, but i was unsure as to what the correct explanation is.

anyways this comes up when i open imgburn

I 21:46:09 ImgBurn Version 2.5.6.0 started!

I 21:46:09 Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3)

I 21:46:09 Total Physical Memory: 1,572,336 KB - Available: 893,504 KB

I 21:46:09 Initialising SPTI...

I 21:46:09 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...

I 21:46:10 -> Drive 1 - Info: HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8164B 0B07-0B (D:) (ATA)

I 21:46:10 Found 1 DVD-ROM!

But when i go to write an image file to disc it says there is no writer detected. But the driver is a writer and I have previously used it to write image files to disc using imgburn before.

Any one got any ideas that can help me?

Thanks!

Do you actually have 2 drives in your machine?

If you do, the 2nd drive must have an issue - check it in Device Manager. You might also like to check it in the BIOS at bootup and the cabling etc.

If you don't, the drive you do have is just a DVD-ROM drive, it can't burn anything.
