What is the "Reset DMA" check box do?

The reason I ask is because I'm searching for answers to a read problem... having trouble with CRC and ECC errors when attempting to create an Image File off of

a Double Layer BD (8.9g). Can't get through the disk with a SATA connected external drive, but move it to my internal IDE drive and it reads all

the way through every time. I've cleaned the lenses on the drive, adjusted the read speed settings, checked "ignore read errors" etc., no results???

Puzzled???

Some older OS can revert to PIO mode and the reading/writing is slower.

E 10:56:16 Average Read Rate: 3,366 KB/s (2.4x) - Maximum Read Rate: 7,795 KB/s (5.6x)

Doesn't look like your issue is this based on the speeds.

Looks more as a crappy burn that can't be read back. Some burners are better readers than others.

Yes, thanks for the insight. I hadn't thought of bad burns, more I was thinking of bad disks, but had just about ruled that out because of so many

different disks involved......but all of the disks sampled were burned on the same burner.

I guess I can live with the warning line in the log file: "Duplex Secure's SPTD driver can have a detrimental effect on drive performance"???

I was kind of curious about that too?

Thanks again

One more nugget.....the drive is question is an external sata connected. I can move the same disk to a internal IDE on the same Vista machineand read it perfectly every time.

With Pioneers and some other burners you get slow reading speeds.
