Try to burn at 4x but it only can go up to 2x

I am trying to burn 8x verbatium dvd+r dl dvds at 4x, however I can never even get close to that. The avg burn speed is 1.9x with the max being 2.1x.

I am using xp sp2 with 2gb of ram with a liteon drive with forced hypertuning, opc, and smart burn enabled. I can add the log, but it does not show any errors or anything out of place.

Also when I used 2.4x verbatiums before I wrote at 2.4x and did not have this problem, it has only shown up with the 8x disks.

Thank you if you decide to help. :)

Edit: The disk burned almost within the criteria that I was looking for, and it works but I do not like it that it is not properly burning.

pi: max 42 avg 1.64 pif: max 6 avg .22

Have you tried resetting the DMA settings in Windows?

Try the option in the Tools menu first. Then, if that doesn't work, refer to the post in the FAQ.

Thank you will try that now, and sorry for not looking at the faq i looked at the guides and searched it but missed the faq.

I have another question but it is not that important: I previously also enabled online hypertuning and I had my buffer run out every 20 seconds exactly. Is this a hardware error or does it mean my internet is slow (that is the only way I understand online hypertuning as I have not been able to find any explanation of it through google)?

Edit: tried it on a cd and it worked, probably will be good. Thank you for your time and you amazing program.

I was wrong, I tried both techniques and I still get the same problem. Any other advice?

Edit: I noticed last time that the device buffer was emptying very fast about once in three seconds. Could that imgburn is compinsating for that, by lowering the speed, be the source of the problem?

It sounds like you still have DMA issues.

How's the other buffer bar during a burn?

Burn a 4x or 8x speed rewritable disc in Discovery mode (or a DVD-R with Test Mode enabled) and see if it burns at full speed.

I found my problem. I had a very old bios on my computer and it was very buggy. So I upgraded it and a multitude of problems went away including graphical errors and dma issues.

Well now I can say thank you for helping me and making a good program :P
