GloryHound Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 I'm trying to burn a .dvd file on a DL disc with IMGburn. I have done this before but not since this past summer. Now I start to burn and it gets stuck at 0-6%(4 tries), it doesnt say anything is wrong, it just stops. I have let it sit for up to 3 hours, to no avail. When I cancel it, it freezes up. The discs I uses have worked before with no problem, and My drive was bought over the summer. If anyone can give a clue to what is wrong or what to do, I would be most grateful. Thanks for any help in advance! here's the log: I 13:51:13 ImgBurn Version 2.5.6.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Freezing (where something stops processing the I/O) is usually due to drivers (including 'filter' drivers - check the 'Tools' menu) or the way the drive is connected - in your case, USB.
GloryHound Posted December 27, 2011 Author Posted December 27, 2011 Freezing (where something stops processing the I/O) is usually due to drivers (including 'filter' drivers - check the 'Tools' menu) or the way the drive is connected - in your case, USB. Any suggestions of what to do? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, unplugging and replugging, disabling and enabling, which is everything I could possibly think of to do.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Well, you could post your filter driver list. Use the feature in the Tools menu. Did you not have the option of getting an internal drive? If you have the ability to add an internal normal size (non slimline) drive to your PC, you should always do that rather than buying an external. It'll be far more reliable.

LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Double check you've got the latest gear driver installed. http://www.gearcdr.com/support/drivers.php Install 'Driver_Installer_x86_x64.exe' and try again. When it gets stuck burning, what happens if you turn the external burner off? Does it then return a proper error?
GloryHound Posted December 27, 2011 Author Posted December 27, 2011 Yeah, when i turn the drive off imgburn gives me an error message. Let me trying installing that.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 You might also like to try burning in safe mode. Have you tried different USB ports / cables?
GloryHound Posted December 27, 2011 Author Posted December 27, 2011 (edited) Its burning in safe mode right now, at around 15%. its only going at 1.7x though, which i fear could effect the game. It will be done in an hour and i will let you know if it has worked. Thanks so much for your help so far Lightning!! Edit: it failed at 60% after around an hour, does this help? Edited December 27, 2011 by GloryHound
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Only if you post the log You could just be getting a failure in safe mode because you're using cheapo discs. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000
GloryHound Posted December 27, 2011 Author Posted December 27, 2011 I couldnt figure out how to copy the log while in safe mode, sorry. A better explaination is that up to 55% it was burning at 1.7x and then it went down to 0x. From that point on it fluxuated between 0x and .6x until it stopped increasing from 0x at 61%. i will try again later tonight, and if that doesnt work i will pick up some verbs. Thanks Lightning
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 So did you or did you not get an error in safe mode? I was hoping you wouldn't run into a 'freeze' situation and instead you'd get a proper success/failure message.
GloryHound Posted December 27, 2011 Author Posted December 27, 2011 It gradually slowed down and got stuck, no error message
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 At this point I'd probably refer you back to post #4.
GloryHound Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 I'm thinking it could be a virus on my computer, but that has nothing to do with IMGburn, thanks for your help again, this is easily the best free burning software on the internet that i have tried
