J.A. Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Hi, everyone: I was just burning a DVD9 and got this error while verifying: W 18:36:55 Miscompare at LBA: 1572733, Offset: 449, File: \05-Density.avi What I would like to know, is how much of an error is this? I mean, this is a video file, so will there be any problem with the audio, video, etc? or was it a not important error? This is the log, I guess: I 17:53:54 ImgBurn Version 2.5.5.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 It's 1 bit in a byte. I can't tell you what it'll do to the stream... at a guess though, nothing. Such errors are usually related to memory issues. Run memtest86+ for a few passes to test it. btw, you should be using ImgBurn v2.5.6.0 and your Pioneer drive could do with having its firmware updated - http://www.firmwarehq.com/Pioneer/DVR-108/files.html
J.A. Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 Would that mean then that the error would end up being "irrelevant"? I watched the video file and everything went fine, but I ask to the gurus because I don't want to play the disc in a few months and not be able to play anything =D
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 What I'm saying is that the error might not actually exist at all. Had you not have built+burn on the fly, I'd have told you to verify the disc against the same image again. Now you'll have to use something like Beyond Compare to re-check the file on the disc against the file on your hdd. Don't forget about memtest.
J.A. Posted January 5, 2012 Author Posted January 5, 2012 Thank you a lot for your answer! I checked the disc with Beyond Compare, and everything went fine. I didn't know of that little software, very useful. Oh, yes, thank you about that too. I actually ran memtest a few weeks ago to check the ram sticks, but it didn't find anything, but anyways, I'm planning on upgrading my computer, so problem solved. Thank you again!
