gobettee Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I have made 3 good DVDs of slideshows that play on TV. None of the DVDs that I have made after the first 3 will play on TV. The "VIDEO_TS" folder for the 3 good DVDs have 2 more files than the bad DVDs. The 2 extra files are "VIDEO_TS.BUP" and "VIDEO_TS.IFO" The 3 files that are the same for both the good and bad DVDs are "VTS_01_0.BUP", "VTS_01_0.IFO", "VTS_01_1" file type "VOB file". I uninstalled and reinstalled all of the slideshow software, including ImgBurn, prior to my most recent DVD burn and this post. My disks are: DVD+R, speed up to 16x, Brand is Maxwell (the only brand that I have found that my DVD writer accepts). Some of my bad DVDs get the message on the TV "Reading" but nothing else happens, and some of the bad DVDs get the massage "Can not read this disc. I hope you can tell me what I have done wrong. ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.5.5.0 - Log ; Thursday, 19 January 2012, 14:57:59 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 14:56:56 ImgBurn Version 2.5.5.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Update the firmware on your drive. http://www.firmwarehq.com/NEC/ND-1300A/files.html Update ImgBurn If your discs don't play on your standalone player, maybe it doesn't like the media - 'CMC MAG-M01-00' aren't great quality discs. The burn quality achieved by your burner might not be up to much either - the firmware update may help that. I assume you created a DVD Video disc that your player supports? i.e. it's in NTSC format and not PAL.
gobettee Posted January 22, 2012 Author Posted January 22, 2012 Thank you for your help! I still have the same problem. 1. I updated the firmware 2. I made certain that the new disc did not have any fingerprints 3. I slowed the write speed down to 2x 4. I made sure that the format was NTSC The only difference between the good disc and the bad disc is the two extra files on the good disc. The good disc has the following two files VIDEO_TS.BUP and VIDEO_TS.IFO Could the absence of these two files keep the disc from playing? Is there anything that I did to the software that prevented the two files (VIDEO_TS.BUP and VIDEO_TS.IFO)from being created?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Yes, you need the complete set of DVD Video files - that includes the VIDEO_TS.IFO / BUP files. Your authoring program creates them, it's not something ImgBurn does.

gobettee Posted January 22, 2012 Author Posted January 22, 2012 Thank you! Now that I know that it is not ImgBurn that is omitting the files "VIDEO_TS.IFO/BUP, I'll concentrate on my Authoring Program.
