jasjw Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Hi I have just purchased an Internal Blu Ray Writer and used the tempest enclosure so I can use it with my laptop. Ive used IMGBURN no problem to backup my Xbox 360 games and other general stuff but I can't seem to burn my 3D ISO files. I have wasted 2 BD-R discs now so thought I'd best ask for help. LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 What you're burning should make no difference, something about your enclosure / USB chipset combo just isn't working nicely together and it's timing out the commands long before they're supposed to time out. Put service pack 1 on for Windows 7, that may help.
jasjw Posted February 18, 2012 Author Posted February 18, 2012 (edited) I updated to service pack 1 but it still didnt work. This time it would get to writing sectors and instead of fail it just freezes and I have to disconnnect the drive to close IMGBURN. I even tried extracting the ISO and just copying the folders but it does the same thing and fails. I've now wasted 6 BD- discs. I should of got a BD-RW. Anymore ideas? Would an External USB Blu Ray drive work or would it cause the same problems? Edited February 18, 2012 by jasjw
jasjw Posted February 18, 2012 Author Posted February 18, 2012 Would it make a difference if I used a ESATA cable as both my laptop and enclosure have a ESATA port?
ianymaty Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 You have to try it. Technicaly it's better than USB 2.0 (~3x faster).
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Using eSATA would do away with the semaphore timeout issue, yes.
jasjw Posted February 18, 2012 Author Posted February 18, 2012 Ok I will get one ordered and report back when tested.
jasjw Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 I'm very happy, The ESATA cable worked a treat. Although it didn't work at first and after much tesing a research the cable needed a little plastic shaving off as it didn't go in enough lol.
