bigjohnno
Hello. After updating to the latest version of Imgburn, it wasn't long before I too got the message "Duplex Secure's SPTD can have a detrimental effect on Drive performance", so I browsed this Forum, and tried the advice given to others. I firstly changed the Registry Start DWORD as was suggested here, but still cannot burn DL media, so I decided to try the other option, went to Duplex Secure's site and downloaded the set-up files in order to install and uninstall as suggested. On initiating the set-up I got an error message that "This Platform is not supported", I'm running Win 7 yet I managed to find two instances of sptd-srv in my registry. So I can't use the second advice option either that has been suggested to others, I am assuming that uninstalling ImgBurn will not uninstall the SPTD, so would be grateful if you have any ideas as to how I deal with the issue I have please? The DVD+R DL's I am using are a well known brand here and I have not had any problems with them over the 18 months that I have been using them, and the old ImgBurn didn't mind them either. At the moment, I can't burn a D/L disc with Nero either, all is well until the layer break and then I get errors listed on verifying from then onwards. Hope you can point me in the right direction, Thanks John
LIGHTNING UK!
If you've changed the sptd service's 'start' value to 'disabled' (4?) and rebooted, you won't get the message from ImgBurn. It's a little odd that their installer says your platform isn't supported. In any case, SPTD is unlikely to be the cause of your problems. Why don't you post a copy of the burn log - as per the pink box up the top We'll then take a look and see if we can get you burning again.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, After my initial post I went to Duplex Secure's Forum, and their suggestion was via Regedit, to allow all permissions and then simply delete the key, which I did. I then uninstalled ImgBurn, rebooted, and installed DVDFlick, which uses an earlier version (pre SPTD), and did a test burn, but on verification it still got stuck at the layer break. I only had one option (white star) at the layer break config stage, and ran the preview before deciding that it should be okay. Anyway, another 'coaster' for my collection, I hope you can work out how I can get back to burning from the log cheers John and here's the log: I 22:25:28 ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 started! Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: RITEK-S04-66) (Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x)Write Speed: 1x Try 6x and 8x since 4x was used when you selected 1x. Thanks, I have updated Firmware (had looked for that but could not find it recently as the drive is new. I have already tried replacing the ImgBurn in DVDFlick with the most current last week, and that is when the problems started and I started to notice the yellow message in ImgBurn stating" Duplex Secure's SPTD can have a detrimental effect on Drive performance, which is when I started to educate myself about SPTD, found it in my Registry, and wrote to you. I can try again if you think things will be different now. Unfortunately I am disabled, and can only get to one store which sells DL Media, I can try looking to buy some Verbatim online, but am limited very much in getting around these days so shopping around isn't an option anymore I'm afraid. I'll wait to hear from you regarding the change in DVDFlick before I do it again, as I don't want to compound the problem. Thanks for the speedy assistance John
LIGHTNING UK!
It's just occurred to me that the SPTD installer's message about your platform not being supported could be due to you downloading the 32bit version of the installer rather than the 64bit one. That aside, I'm sure your problems are covered by this thread - http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000
