LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 The initial error - ASC: 0x09, ASCQ: 0x90 isn't documented anywhere, but here are some other errors from the ASC 0x09 series... 09 00 TRACK FOLLOWING ERROR 09 01 TRACKING SERVO FAILURE 09 02 FOCUS SERVO FAILURE 09 03 SPINDLE SERVO FAILURE 09 04 HEAD SELECT FAULT It all adds up to your drive not liking the discs you're using. Give it another go at 4x or something. Notice the speed you requested (12x) isn't supported so the drive used 8x instead. If it doesn't work at 4x, get yourself some better discs - Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden (Victor JVC).
Maersk Posted March 11, 2012 Author Posted March 11, 2012 Thanks for quick answer, but i have now tried 6 different brands of DVD's, both + and - types but same error occurs. It makes no sense :S
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Do you have the logs from the others? Brand names don't mean much (except with Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden), they could all be using rubbish MID codes/dyes like the 'RITEK-F16-01' shown there. That said, if the drive is failing with everything you throw at it, it's probably dirty (clean it with a cleaning disc) or faulty.
Maersk Posted March 20, 2012 Author Posted March 20, 2012 (edited) Hi and sorry for the wait. I have attached the error log from Nero Burning Rom 10 to this post.Log2.txt Edited March 20, 2012 by Maersk
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 That's a log of you burning the same MID/dye and you're getting the same 0x09, 0x90 error code.
Maersk Posted March 20, 2012 Author Posted March 20, 2012 And that means? The error code is the same regardless which options and files i use to burn.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Well you said you had burnt various discs from both formats (+ and -) and so far I've just seen logs from you trying to burn 'RITEK-F16-01' discs. As I said in post #4, if the drive is failing with everything you throw at it, it's probably dirty (clean it with a cleaning disc) or faulty. The problem is not with what you're burning file wise, it's with what you're burning to - or at least some combination of your drive/firmware/media.
Maersk Posted March 20, 2012 Author Posted March 20, 2012 I bought a disc cleaner disc and i can now write on normal cd's but still not on dvd. Havent submitted other logs with other discs since the error code is the exact same, so i dont see any point in doing so.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 That's fine but you should at least have told me that! All I knew before your last post was that I'd asked for the other logs and you provided a log of you burning the same sort of disc in Nero - not at all what I wanted. At this point I'd just give up with that drive and get yourself another one.
