LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 ok and so what message do you see in the status bar at the bottom of the main window when you can't click the 'Write' button? There's a firmware update available for your drive. http://www.firmwarehq.com/Optiarc/AD-7173S/files.html
kalodont Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 I updated but its still the same, write button is still unavailible to press
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Have you put a disc in the drive? It doesn't appear to think so.
kalodont Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 yep, i tried: verbatim DVD - R DL dual layer 8.5gb tdk DVD + R double layer 8.5gb
kalodont Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 (edited) But when i try normal dvd such as : DVD + R 4.7gb it works.. i saw some videos how to burn to disk for xbox and all of them were doing like that. Edited March 13, 2012 by kalodont
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 If your drive won't recognise any DL media (try some original pressed DVD-ROM discs too - i.e. a DVD Video disc), it's probably faulty.
kalodont Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 (edited) um it means my drive is too old to recognize such things? :S cause those cd's are great for xbox i dont think others will work.. -.- Edited March 13, 2012 by kalodont
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 No, your drive should be able to burn double layer discs just fine. That's why I said you should try some normal double layer discs (i.e. a regular original/silver/pressed/purchased in a store DVD Video disc). That fact you can't burn to it doesn't matter, I just want to know if your drive will acknowledge the fact it's in the drive tray. If your drive still reports (and ImgBurn displays) 'Medium Not Present', your drive is probably faulty (broken).
kalodont Posted March 14, 2012 Author Posted March 14, 2012 (edited) Hello i just have another question cause i dont want to create a new topic. Well im in imgburn program and i go to: TOOLS -> SETTINGS -> WRITE and on the right side i can see Layer break ( for dl media ) and bellow that its sectors in l0: and that table is empty.. but when i watch videos i can see that they have number imput: 1913760... so should choose user specified and enter this number and leave it that way or should i change it to calculate optimal.. cause when i choose calculate optimal i dont have number in that lable Edited March 14, 2012 by kalodont
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 When on 'Calculate Optimal', the correct layer break position is read from the .DVD/.MDS file (assuming you load it and not the .ISO file). There's never been any real need to specify it manually, the option is just there for advanced users, should they ever need it.
