Triode Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 (edited) I have been using these Disks for well over 2 years now, and a few months ago one of the disks failed to format properly. The disk in question would only fromat to 48% when used with imgburn (or any other program!!) This left me with a usable storeage area for 23.815Gb before receiving a write/format error. As these disks are not cheap when you're on a limited budget I continued to use it rather than bin it or use it as a coaster!! I have looked into the problem and now the disk will fully format!! The problem was solved by placing the disk on a dinner plate and pouring on boiling water, totally covering the disk. this has the effect of turning the dye back to it's transparent state. When the water cooled down, the disk was removed dried off and I was able to complete a full format in imgburn. The disk can now store 50Gb on dual layer with no problems. For the record I don't know if this works for other brands of BD-RE but I see no reason for it not to!! It WILL NOT work on BD-R disks due to differences in dye structure.
