magnet Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Hi, anytime I try to burn a bluray disc (7 or 8 so far), I get this error message. I updated the firmware but it's no use. However, it verifies and plays fine on my laptop. What to do? Btw, I don't have an external burner, it came with my vaio laptop. Here is the log: I 22:05:37 ImgBurn Version 2.5.7.0 started!I 22:05:37 Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Edition (6.1, Build 7601 : Service Pack 1) I 22:05:37 Total Physical Memory: 4.160.536 KB - Available: 1.270.216 KB I 22:05:38 Initialising SPTI... LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Have you tried burning at 4x? Perhaps try with another variation of the Verbatim discs - there are several to choose from.
magnet Posted April 5, 2012 Author Posted April 5, 2012 Yes, I tried to do that but strangely enough it didn't go beyond 2x. Could it be that verbatim bluray discs aren't that good? I already bought 50 of them:(
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 The discs should be fine, I'd probably blame the drive if anything. I'm not a fan of slimline drives, especially Matshita ones. It would be interesting to check out the burn quality of that drive/media combo but you'd need access to a LiteOn Blu-ray drive (or clone of such a drive).
magnet Posted April 5, 2012 Author Posted April 5, 2012 For now, I don't have any option other than using what I got. So can you say that it is safe for me to continue burning the discs getting the same error message every time? As I said, it verifies and the files are all there. Is there a chance that the data may get lost after some time?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Well, in theory, all the data should be on the disc (as Verify passed) but you may find the disc as a whole is totally unrecognisable/unreadable in certain devices. That's what normally happens when a disc can't be closed.
