.exe Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 (edited) This is my first post here so hi everyone. I would very much like to see a tutorial,of 'How to Create a Windows 7 Installation Disc(bootable) using ImgBurn. There is a 2009 tutorial for W.Vista/ 7 however that didn't do it for me. Certain things were unclear,so one for W.7 today would be great and very useful. Thank you for a great software. Edited April 9, 2012 by .exe
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 The Vista / Windows 7 one is correct. What didn't work about it?
.exe Posted April 10, 2012 Author Posted April 10, 2012 (edited) I didn't say that anything was incorrect, only unclear. For example it states:' My source Directory is .........looks as follows' Would that be the C:/windows>boot folder?? Then it states:the etfsboot.com file, within the bootfolder.. in your source folder My system is W.7 Home Premium sp1, and i couldn't find the above mentioned file in the boot folder. Perhaps it is elsewhere in W.7? And What exactly is meant by ' Your Source Folder??.' Thank you : Edited April 10, 2012 by .exe
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 You can't build a bootable installation disc from an existing installation of Windows, you need the original disc or zip file containing the right files (some of Microsoft's downloadable versions come like that).
.exe Posted April 10, 2012 Author Posted April 10, 2012 Thanks for that, one more question:If ı have an installation disc (which i do(i purchased one extra,as my laptop is an OEM install) then for what purpose would i want or need, the bootable disc that ImgBurn can create?? Thank you
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Sometimes you can modify them to do extra stuff... but mainly this would be useful for people that got their installation/setup files in a zip download.
.exe Posted April 10, 2012 Author Posted April 10, 2012 Thank you for the prompt and helpful answers, much appreciated.
