Ok so I have a lite on iHAS424 flashed to burn XGD 3 games. On my hp laptop running Windows Vista using IMGburn it work perfectly fine. Now I bought a brand new ASUS with Windows 7 and im using IMGburn but its giving me and error after 2% stating THE SEMAPHORE TIMEOUT PERIOD HAS EXPIRED. Both PC's are laptops and the Lite on drive is hooked up through a SATA to USB connection. Can Someone help me out??? Sorry I dont have a log in order to get the log ill have to waste another disc and there expensive.

Sounds as the "box" SATA --> USB that is the issue. Some USB equipment just go grazy and report that semaphore error.

No chance you can connect it directly USB --> USB?

I have it connected from the sata cable to a usb directly to the laptop theres no other way to connect it. Its just weird it works fine on the other laptop and not this one but the other one isnt mine

There were some updates in SP1 regarding USB stuff.

I wonder if going via a powered USB hub would make a difference?

Failing that, I assume your new laptop doesn't have an eSATA or you'd already be using it?

You could get an (e)SATA ExpressCard and plug it into that... or maybe just another USB one - as the semaphore timeout seems to just be a weird glitch between USB chipsets.

Curious.

Have you seen any semaphore issues on USB 3.0 devices?

Not personally, no.

I don't have much use for optical drives in USB enclosures these days though and my only USB 3.0 device is just for hdds. I think optical drive sized ones are quite rare.
