Trouble setting booktype with SONY DVD RW DRU-840A

I've been trying to set the booktype for my DVD burner without much luck. As I said, my burner is a SONY DVD RW DRU-840A which appears to be a Samsung OEM. When I tell it to "Change," I get a "Success" message, but it doesn't appear to actually work. On top of that, when I set the ID string in the advanced settings, I get a big fat nothing. What can I do?

According to post #3 in this thread it should be enough to do the advanced setting stuff.

Sure you picked the right string -- SONY DVD RW DRU-840A -- when you added the ID string in the Samsung tab?
