cheerful Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 I've got several coaster and would like to do a test run before trying again. However, I've got the warning messages Test Mode is not supported by the current media (DVD+R DL). Data WILL actually be written to the disc. Test Mode might not be supported by the current media (BD-R). Data COULD actually be written to the disc. Do they support test mode? Or is it a matter of brand? Thanks
LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 I honestly don't know about BD-R. Some drives may support it, some may not. I don't have enough of them, nor have I done any real 'Test Mode' testing on BD-R media to be able to say either way. Technically, the 'Write Parameters' mode page where the 'Test Mode' bit gets enabled doesn't apply to DVD+ or BD media so enabling the option on it shouldn't do anything. That aside, test mode doesn't really tell you anything useful. The drive can't know it's going to fail to burn the disc until it actually tries. If your drive is producing coaster, why don't you post a log so we can make a few comments.
