NOhara Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 I have an LG BluRay DVD drive. I burn ISO files I've created with ProShow Gold to standard -R DVDs. On this DVD burner, everything goes well until the very end where the program hangs on terminating the interface--it never does. I then have to manually close the program and restart the computer otherwise I can't get my DVD disc out. It is this model: WH12LS39 I have an old Dell 8400 successfully running Windows 7 64 bit. I was using Image Burn with 32 bit XP without issue. However, this drive was purchased after I converted to Windows 7 64 bit, and I re-installed Image Burn after the conversion. Thanks for any help.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Does it really hang on that by itself or is it hanging on something else and you're then trying to close the program, at which point it makes it look like it's hanging on terminating the interface thread? The 'un-forced' message in the status bar is crucial here. Can you copy + paste everything from the log window (having completed a burn+verify) please? Please also take a screenshot so I can see exactly where it's up to. That fact you're saying you can't get the disc out leads me to believe it hasn't finished the burn properly - because the drive tray gets unlocked *before* the 'operation successfully completed' box pops up.
NOhara Posted June 16, 2012 Author Posted June 16, 2012 I don't know if I'm doing it right re the copy and paste. This time, I started the program before putting a disk in the burner, and this time, I didn't get a "System has been changed" line in the log. However, after the verify stage, it hung again, and when I tried to close the program, it still shows "Terminating the Interface". It's been 15 minutes and it isn't doing anything. LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 It looks like it finished ok there. Once you've clicked the 'OK' button after the verify operation and the program has gone back to the main screen/refreshed the disc info (if it even gets that far), what message are you left with in the status bar?
NOhara Posted June 16, 2012 Author Posted June 16, 2012 Well I don't remember exactly but refreshing the disk info sounds familiar. That was on the status bar for a long time, then I clicked on File/Close and got the 'Closing Down' info in the log, but then the same "Terminating Interface" message stays on the status bar and everything is grayed out so I can't access anything else. I have to forcibly shut down the program, and turn off/on Windows to access the burner as if I don't, the computer can't control the burner at all.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 I'm sorry but I really can't help you without knowing the specifics. I'd also probably need an I/O debug enabled log (press F8 before you start the burn) - but attach the file to your post, don't copy+paste as it'll probably be too big. Do you know what controller your drive is attached to? Right click the drive 'drop down' selection box and click 'Family Tree' on the context menu that pops up. Then if you just close the prompt (click ok or whatever), you should be able to copy + paste the info from the log window.
NOhara Posted June 16, 2012 Author Posted June 16, 2012 The message was "Getting Disc Recording Management Area Information". As for how to retrieve the debug log, don't have a clue. Also, I am not technically handy. When you say 'click the drive 'drop down' selection box, where are you talking about? In Windows, the Program--if so, what menu or window? Then the bit about copy and paste--don't know what you are saying. Sorry...
LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Right so if that's the message it actually gets stuck on, that's the one your system/drive is having trouble processing. Now we're getting somewhere I did tell you how to enable I/O debug mode... you just press the F8 key before you click the 'Write' button that starts the burn going. Don't worry about doing that now though as you've just told me where it's really getting stuck. The drive drop down box is the box where you pick the destination drive. So.... right click it. Pick 'Family Tree' on the context menu... Click 'OK' to close the prompt... Copy + paste the relevant entries that get written to the log window...
