Just a quick question. I just started burning today and i'm burning at 2.4x with OPC on, but i've read that it should be off unless burning at 4x. Is it ok that I have it on at 2.4x?

I've never seen it make much (any) difference really.

Do a burn with it on and another with it off. Compare the quality via a disc quality/pipo scan and go with whatever produced the best result.

An old thread with a small test and I use OPC mainly only to find out when a burner is near it's dead. If OPC works when it's new, it will start failing near the death date, based on my crashed burners.

When you say quality, what do you mean?

A disc scan on the burned disc. Only certain burners are reliable for this test. Mainly genuine Lite-Ons.

Sorry what? I just got my ihas124 B two days ago and started burning today. I burnt 4 games at 2.4x with OPC on. Should I turn it off? Is it damaging my drive?

No, that setting is not damaging your drive.

That burner is a genuine Lite-On so it should be ok to scan with.

Thanks. So just keep burning at 2.4x with OPC on then? Only other thing I changed was buffer speed to 512. I haven't enabled Hypertuning or smartburn.
