dbminter Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 I was wondering. If I have a VIDEO_TS folder that contains a DVD Video that will fit on a DVD-5 and I add files to a Build job to create a DVD Video image that makes the size of the image fit only to a DVD-9 disc image file, there won't be a need to set a layer break for the image, will there? Because the VIDEO_TS contents themselves aren't being split between layers, and non VIDEO_TS data does not need a layer break on a DVD-9. I'm right in thinking that, right? Thanks!
LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Yes, that's correct - in theory anyway! Of course the individual layers on DVD-9 discs aren't quite the the size of an actual DVD-5.
dbminter Posted June 17, 2012 Author Posted June 17, 2012 Well, I decided to put the theory paritally to the test. I took a DVD-5 sized VIDEO_TS folder into a Build job and then added some files to the job until the image disc size reached DVD-9. When I built the image to HD, it didn't ask me for a layer break for the video. Which was what we had predicted would happen anyway. I didn't burn the disc, though, but, creating the image should be enough.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Just know that if your VIDEO_TS exceeds the size of an individual layer, the program will prompt for a layer break. You may still be able to burn it to a DVD-5 though.
