Fab user Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Both my relatively new Plextor drives (PX-L890SA with firmware 1.07 and PX-LB950SA firmware version 1.02) hang on disc finalising -- have had this problem so far with Verbatim DVD +R DL and have not yet tried other media since ImgBurn update. Both drives' firmware is up-to-date, and I am using ImgBurn 2.5.7.0 -- computer is 4 month old Dell XPS 8300 with core i7 processor and 12 gig of RAM. Have removed discs after about 3 minutes hanging on finalising (and they hang on this step in each drive -- 2 in L890SA and 1 in LB950SA so far), but they do play in standalone DVD player/TV correctly after aborting ImgBurn.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Load ImgBurn, switch to Write mode, right click on the drive selection drop down box (in the 'Destination' box) and pick 'Family Tree'. Close the prompt that pops up (by clicking OK or whatever) and then copy + paste everything from the log window.

LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Ok well I'd probably just update the Rapid Storage Tech drivers - you're running 10.6. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&keyword=%22rapid%22&sort=Date&sortDir=descending v11.2 came out the other day. You should also see 11.1 and 10.8 listed in those results. I've seen this problem several times where the drive/machine just reports that the track is still being closed (forever!) and updating the drivers usually fixes it.
Fab user Posted June 28, 2012 Author Posted June 28, 2012 My Bad Lightining! These discs are the first I've burned that haven't nearly filled 8.5 gb DL disc (data was about 7gb on each). I hadn't allowed enough time for finalization; on next disc burned (approx. 7 gb data again) I just let ImgBurn do it's job and finalization completed in about 6 minutes.
