Sorry, if this has been addressed before. I did a search but didn't come up with anything useful.

After opening the "Settings" window, under the "Write" tab, can someone explain the "DVD+R Reserve Track" option?

It makes the program send the 'Reserve Track' command all the time when burning DVD+R. Normally it's only needed for DVD-R burning.

Thanks.

Q:

So, what is a Reserve Track and why do I need this for a + or - R?

It's just giving the drive a 'heads up' as to how much you're going to burn.

Some drives will let you overburn if the command is sent prior to burning - but in these situations, ImgBurn sends it automatically. It's always sent for DVD-R (because it needs to be) but it's not needed for DVD+R and so not normally sent.

It's really just these incase you have a weird drive that does things differently if it's sent. It's not an option you should even need to touch.

Plextor is not among these such weird drives, right?

I believe that Plextor's allow for overburning via Plex-tools....additionally, not all plextors are actually plextors.
