jollyo55 Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Hi guys, So I'm trying to burn an .iso image to a DVD+R DL, I have checked with Nero InfoTool which says that I can write Dual Layer discs, but when I try to do it, I get an I/O error at 50%. I am using windows 7 Ultimate and have a Matshita DVD RAM UJ 850-z (ATA). I used ImgBurn to burn an image and single-layer is going great. I use TDK DVD+R DL and I burned at 2.4x The error, as far as I can see, happens when the drive tries to change the layer it writes on. Is this the fault of the drive? Would a Verbatim work 100% or should I just give up and get money for another dvd drive? This is my ImgBurn log: I 19:31:28 -> Drive 2 - Info: MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-850 z RB32 (E:) (ATA) I 19:31:28 Found 1 DVD±RW/RAM and 1 BD-ROM! I 19:36:32 Operation Started! jollyo55 Posted July 20, 2012 Author Posted July 20, 2012 So I've got a complementary question to this. The image I was trying to burn was made with my DVD drive from my computer. I got a hold of my original disc and tried to make another image of it, it's a DVD-ROM. But I get an I/O error when trying to read it too. Anyone know what this thing is? I have no idea what to do about it, is it the drive, in the end? I've attached a photo of the error message, and this is the log: PS: I changed the read speed to 2x/4x , should I leave it at MAX/8x or input some special values? As you can see this is an image of one of my PS2 games. I 10:56:10 ImgBurn Version 2.5.7.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 You won't know if Verbatim disc will work until you actually try them. As per - http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000 Your 2nd post just shows a disc your drive can't read. Is it dirty/scratched? Try it in another drive if possible.
jollyo55 Posted July 20, 2012 Author Posted July 20, 2012 Damn, that makes me pretty angry for spending my money on a large TDK spindle (I was told they're better than Verbatim). I was hoping that's not the problem. As for my second post, I've placed the DVD in my PS2 and it freezes at the intro cutscene so I'm guessing it's scratched. Is there any way I can still make an ISO from it or should I just stick to the old image?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 If it's unreadable in your drive and you don't have access to any others that may or may not be able to read it, there's no way for you to make an ISO from it. Stick to the old image.
jollyo55 Posted July 20, 2012 Author Posted July 20, 2012 Fair enough, thanks for the advice. I'll get a hold of some Verbatim DLs and check whether those work. If not, I can only conclude that my DVD drive doesn't fit the bill. I'll post back when I try to burn the Verbatim, for future reference.
