polopony Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 well here we go again ,spent the day installing shutters for customers in prep for the storm .Its 10:00 pm and the wind is howling and its raining cats and dogs just another lovely day in South Florida

Basically, it comes from the days of yor when people used to cover their roofs with thatch. During heavy rain the thatch would become greasy and slippery and the animals that were sleeping on the roof (cats, dogs, elephants) would slide through the thatching to land on the beds of the occupants. Hence: Raining cats and dogs. <trivia mode off>

polopony Posted August 31, 2006 Author Posted August 31, 2006 all the hoopla is over, it rained part of the day then the sun broke out and it was fine. the village of Knighton, in Powys reported raining fish which is not uncommon in areas of Britian. Great Yarmouth in Norfolk also reported raining fish in 2000. If it would only rain chips also
