guermantes Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Hi, I have just started burning audio-CDs with imgburn and I am getting a strange problem. At the very end of every disc after the music fades out and the "remaining time" counter on my high end CD-player switches from 0.01 to 0.00, there is a very quick noise. The noise is related to the music that was played a few seconds earlier. If it's a symphony that ends in a crescendo you hear a millisecond of that crescendo again, and if it is a voice fading out you hear a millisecond of that voice again after it has faded out. It's like in the good old days when you lifted the needle from a vinyl record player and accidentally slided the needle over the last few millimeters of the record. I am burning with TaiyoYuden media, flac and wav sources, using CD-text. When I play the CD in the computer it behaves OK. One could be tempted to think that it is the CD-player that produces this effect but, but it ain't necessarily so, because burning in - NERO burning ROM 11 produces the same noise. - CDburnerXP does not but it corrupts CD-text so I don't want to use that. - Foobar burn AudioCD extension burns fine as well but has no support for CD-text so that goes out the windows as well. Is anyone familiar with this issue? I am rapidly going through my stock of CDs and I still have not gotten a good burn. Enclosed is cue sheet if it can be of any help. Thanks! Rubinstein, Arthur - Beethoven- Piano concertos no. 3-4.cue
LIGHTNING UK! Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 It could be a result of burning in SAO mode or just something your drive is doing (as audio samples are offset slightly by the drive).
guermantes Posted August 11, 2012 Author Posted August 11, 2012 It could be a result of burning in SAO mode... Hi, thanks for answering. So the solution would be to go track at once, and lose capability to write CD-text? ... or just something your drive is doing (as audio samples are offset slightly by the drive). Would that be consistent with the fact that I don't get these errors in foobar or CDburner XP?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 I don't know offhand which write type those 2 programs would be using by default for that task with your drive. The write type could provide a workaround for the issue but that's something you'd have to test and find out for yourself. I have no access to any hardware until next week - so I can't test things until then.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Ok, I've checked and the two that work seem to be using the 'RAW' write type. So if Nero shows the same issue, it's probably using 'SAO' too. You haven't actually mentioned which drive you've got? Maybe just posting the log from an Audio CD burn (with ImgBurn of course) would be best and may save me asking for other bits of info.
