Hello.

Even if i actualy suspect more a compatibility issue with the dics and recorder, i nevertheless report the issue, as i'm not totaly excluding an ImgBurn issue.

One strange thing : 6x Tayo Yuden disc (JVC-AM-S6L-001) are reported as 2x,

but 4x Tayo Yuden disc (TYG-BD-Y03-001) are correctly reported as 4x.

But, i've just discoverd that these disc are LTH, a "subtle" thing i wasn't aware until now...

You may find the 1.06 firmware has no (or just limited) support for the 'JVC-AM-S6L-001' MID... I really couldn't tell you. The supported speeds are from the drive/firmware/media combo though - ImgBurn just reports what the drive tells it.

Are you using ElbyCDIO because of 'non admin' user permissions in XP?

Posted

ElbyCDIO : No, just because i was wondering what could be the best driver to use. I just thought that drivers from Slysoft product would be somehow up to date, and the best option. Maybe i am mistaken ?

Firmware : Well... Limited support would result i think of x2 speed, but working burning...

I've always considering Tayo Yuden as one of the best, if not "the best" manufacturer product for DVD. When on the site i order medi, Tayo Yuden appears, i've replaced Verbatim by them. I was never aware of this LTH/LHT things, until :

- 3 days ago, a friend of mine calls me to tell me about this.

- Yesterday i discover that Tayo Yuden disc were already LTH, because of the sudden issue...

LTH is supposed to be of same quality, Tayo Yuden was supposed to be "the reference" in quality product, at least DVD.

Now, i begin to wonder. Can Tayo Yuden products still be considered the same they were ? Or are they begin to begin the shadow of what they were (like Plextor), producing only "good" and not "excelent" product, leaving the "excelent" place, empty...

Posted

Stick with the default one - SPTI, it's built into the OS.

TY are great for CDs and DVDs but if all their BD discs are LTH, I'd probably steer clear of them and stick with some decent HTL stuff instead.
