joewoody86 Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Hello, I've successfully used image burn many times to backup DVDs with the DVD drive (TSST TS-H653H 16X DVD+-RW SAT in my Dell Inspiron desktop) and discs (HP DVD+R SingleLayer) that I'm currently using. The process has recently taken a turn for the worse however, and I've only been successful on 1 out of my past 8 burns or so, losing the disc in the process. The process gets to 100% complete and then I get an I/O error. My DVD drive then stops working, and I have to restart the computer for it to be found again. The image file I tried to burn today is one that I have successfully burned before. I noticed that the Cache drops to 0% before this error occurs, and hovers around 97% during the burn process, not sure if this is normal. I've tried using laser lens cleaners (discs with brushes), and I've also made sure that I have the latest drive firmware. Here's the log, any ideas? (I is the Info blue circle and W is the exclamation error warning). The log is also attached (ImgBurn_IO error log.log). I 12:01:27 ImgBurn Version 2.5.7.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 It's probably due to the controller you've attached the drive to and the drivers it's running. Go into Write mode, right click the drive selection box and click 'Family Tree'. Close the prompt and copy + paste the contents of the Log window.
joewoody86 Posted September 21, 2012 Author Posted September 21, 2012 ok so, it was the drive buffer that was hovering at 97%. I slowed the write speed to 4x, and whaddya know, it works! The drive buffer moved up to 100% for most of the duration when I did this. No idea if the drive buffer is the problem at all.... but my equipment apparently isn't handling the higher write speeds well. Reason, unknown to me. I can live with the 4x and will see if I can get away with higher speeds... Per your directions Mr. Lightning: I 14:59:14 ImgBurn Version 2.5.7.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 You can find some newer (v11.6 Versus v10.0) Intel Rapid Storage Tech. drivers over here. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&keyword=%22rapid%22&sort=Date&sortDir=descending Installing those may fix the issue with the drive disconnecting from the system.
