RIMFIRE Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Several months ago I purchased a Mad-Dog DVD Burner model ND2510A. It works great for burning CD's, DVD's and so forth, But when I started to burn DVD+R DL all the programs that I use kept coming back telling me an error has occured "POWER CALIBRATION ERROR".... I have used Nero 6 and the new Nero 7, also IMGBURN and several other programs. They all work fine when it comes to burning CD's and DVD's. I don't understand what POWER CALIBRATION ERROR means. Can someone please tell me and also how to correct the problem so I can burn DVD DL's.
kevdriver Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 (edited) Rimfire, alot of these errors can come from bad blank media, what type of media are you using? Also is the firmware for your DVD burner up to date? Post a log of the failed burn so the guys can see whats happening. Also, because one brand of media burns well as a SL media, doesn't mean that the same brand will make good DL media. Here's a link to check for firmware updates for your burner....... http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php Edited October 21, 2005 by kevdriver
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Ritek DL (which I assume is what you're using because they're the cheapest) and NEC drives don't mix too well - especially if you don't have the very latest firmware installed.

LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Well spotted corn! I don't think that's a DVD-Video compliant double layer image either.
