TheSenileTech Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Admittedly, this is over 12 years late, but I was getting this same error, and it didn't make sense that so many individual DVD+R DL discs could fail, but I followed the advice to try a different spindle. I happened to have the very same kind of disc media but from a different vendor. Wouldn't you know, first try and the disc burnt successfully. Thanks for all the work done for ImgBurn. I have loved this program for many, many years although I have to admit I use it much less in these days of downloads and super-sized Solid State Drives. Not trying to start any wars, but in my case the discs had these results: Memorex DVD+R DL --> Discs supported both 2.4x and 4x speeds, but all attempts to write (on different discs at these different speeds) had errors. Closer inspection of the backs of these discs showed splotches on the surface (before writing), and I could see through to the writing on the label side. Verbatim DVD+R DL --> Discs only supported 2.4x speed, but first write was successful.
dbminter Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 The primary reason Memorex DVD+R DL failed is most likely they were CMC Magnetics discs, and those are the worst quality out there. Even if they weren't CMC, they weren't MKM discs, and MKM is the only manufacturer of quality DVD+R DL out there. Verbatim DataLife Plus are the MKM discs made by Mitsubishi where as the Verbatim Life Series are CMC. But, guess what? CMC OWNS Verbatim!
