kwazie
hi, recently(last 2 months) i'm having a lot of trouble burning games.I did everything i could from installing the burnermax firmware, downloading the latest versions of imgburn over and over again, i've been through several guides on different sites on how to setup the imgburn settings and how to flash my drive, and everytime the burning process fails on 50% or the burning process goes perfectly, but i'll get the unreadable disc error after playing for 5 minutes on the xbox. i've wasted over 10 dvd's now and getting the same problem. I've wasted all my verbatims discs, now i'm using mediarange discs(i used them before and they always worked perfectly) i also have used platinums for a while which also worked perfectly untill now. For some reason imgburn also asks me if i want to truncate or overburn after i downloaded the latest version: 2.5.7.0. which i've never had before...after i downloaded the latest version every single game i wish to burn fails! drive: ATAPI iHAS124 B ALOS (ATA) and my xbox is flashed LT+3.0.... this is what happens if it fails at 50%: I 19:24:47 ImgBurn Version 2.5.7.0 started! LIGHTNING UK!
You don't have the modified firmware installed, that's why it's prompting for truncate/overburn. I would assume the drive is failing to burn those 'MBIPG101-R10-65' discs because they're cheapo ones. If the Verbatim ones burn and verify ok, that's all we really care about. Playback issues in your console are not our concern. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=12200 If you get a decent burn from your drive (and you know you can use kprobe etc to check that), there should be no problem - except if your console itself has one. kwazie
yeah i know there is something wrong with my firmware...but i've installed it the right way(atleast what the guides and stuff tell me) and it worked perfectly before and i've never changed anything about it, untill i downloaded imgburn 2.5.7.0. thats when everything went wrong and the disc unreadable error is just because it doesn't burn correctly... and i know i use cheaper discs now cause i've ran out of verbatims, but these discs worked perfectly before so i don't see why they won't work now, and i've also got another set of discs(not verbatims) which also used to work good, and they're not working either. but my question is what is wrong about my ''modified firmware'' or do i have to go to the ixtreme.net forums for that..? thanks already. LIGHTNING UK!
The program doesn't have any control over the burn, it just provides the drive with data. Success / failure comes from your drive/firmware/media combo. Like I said, you don't have it installed. If you did, your drive would report the discs as being larger than they are designed to be and ImgBurn wouldn't ask you about truncating or overburning (because they'd appear large enough to hold the oversized image). kwazie
i've installed the latest firmware on my drive over 3 times now and still get the same error that he asks if i want to truncate or overburn... but then you'll probably say it's the discs but i've also used all my verbs and they failed aswell.. so i still don't know what to do or what's wrong...all i know is that it started after i downloaded imgburn 2.5.7.0 somehow, i tried to use 2.5.6.0. again but it didn't work.. and if there's something wrong about my drive i really don't know what it is, my local flasher doesn't know either....cause i'ts installed correctly! thanks,
LIGHTNING UK!
AFAIK, the modified firmware applies the size changes to all DVD+R DL media... so I wouldn't blame the media for it not doing so. I don't know what to tell you. ImgBurn offering truncate/overburn means the firmware isn't doing its job and reporting a larger available capacity. kwazie
i've fixed the problem with the firmware, now it's fixed and it doesn't ask for overburn or truncate...although now comes another problem.... every single burn fails at verifying at 50%...now i've watched some other forums where people talked about it but it doesn't seem to work for me(once again -.-). i don't know why it fails though.. this person/topic has the same problem as me but his fix doesn't work for me http://c4evaspeaks.com/topic/error-verifying-xgd3-isos/ maybe someone knows a solution...if it helps i can make an own log if neccesary
