UlZib Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 (edited) Hi, I get this log when starting ImgBurn ... I 22:42:41 ImgBurn Version 2.5.5.0 started! I 22:42:41 Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3) I 22:42:41 Total Physical Memory: 1.572.336 KB - Available: 283.480 KB W 22:42:41 Drive I:\ (FAT) does not support single files > 4 GB in size. I 22:42:41 Initialising SPTI... I 22:42:41 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 22:42:41 -> Drive 1 - Info: AOPEN CD-RW CRW4850 1.04 (F:) (ATA) I 22:42:41 -> Drive 2 - Info: SAMSUNG DVD-ROM SD-616T F306 (E:) (ATA) E 22:42:43 CreateFile Failed! - Device: '\\?\usbstor#cdrom&ven_tsstcorp&prod_cd#dvdw_sh-s182m&rev_sb01#def10921d18b&0#{53f56308-b6bf-11d0-94f2-00a0c91efb8b}' (M:) E 22:42:43 Reason: Zugriff verweigert W 22:42:43 Errors were encountered when trying to access a drive. W 22:42:44 This drive will not be visible in the program. I 22:42:44 Found 1 CD-RW and 1 DVD-ROM! The oddity is: If I first once start CDBurnerXP, close it and restart ImgBurn, I have access to the TSSTcorp drive. I have to do this each time, after I have disconnected the drive from USB. I'm runnig WinXP. Additional info: For another reason I don't know, CDBurnerXP takes 5..10 minutes to start completely and at this time it mostly causes to block the whole system, but no exceptional CPU or disk use is indicated. After it mostly doesn't work correctly/blocks again. IIRC, disconnecting the internal DVD-ROM or CD-RW helped, don't remember exactly. ... but in the end CDBurnerXP helps to run ImgBurn after ?-) BTW: I have same problem/phenomenom with Nero 5.5. Starting ImgBurn "as Administrator", there are no problems (but doesn't have the durable enabling effect from CDBurnerXP): I 23:01:45 ImgBurn Version 2.5.5.0 started! I 23:01:45 Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3) I 23:01:45 Total Physical Memory: 1.572.336 KB - Available: 218.916 KB W 23:01:45 Drive I:\ (FAT) does not support single files > 4 GB in size. I 23:01:45 Initialising SPTI... I 23:01:45 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 23:01:45 -> Drive 1 - Info: AOPEN CD-RW CRW4850 1.04 (F:) (ATA) I 23:01:45 -> Drive 2 - Info: SAMSUNG DVD-ROM SD-616T F306 (E:) (ATA) I 23:01:45 -> Drive 3 - Info: TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S182M SB01 (M:) (USB) I 23:01:45 Found 1 CD-RW, 1 DVD-ROM and 1 DVD±RW/RAM! So the question is, if ImgBurn could learn something from CDBurnerXP on how to run with restricted account privileges from the 1st try. Edited November 15, 2012 by UlZib
LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 You're lucky to have any sort of access to the drives when using XP and logged on as a restricted user... normally you don't. This is covered in the FAQ. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=59entry969 btw, your version of ImgBurn is out of date.
