silvytv Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Hi to everyone. I changed my old Plextor 890SA because it stopped working, and I bought the new model PX-891SA. When I try to write a new disk forcing booktype and I choose Plextor model, the program show an error, not allowing me to set booktype. I have a second dvd-writer (LG) and everything works, so it seems a specific problem. I'm using Windows 8 Pro and there are no firmware updates for my dvd-writer. Do anyone have had the same problem? How do you solved it? Thanke you in advance Silvia
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 It's probably a LiteOn drive, use that tab instead of the Plextor one.

LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 I normally just Google it! i.e. 'PX-891SA LiteOn' My top result then shows it's a 'LiteOn iHAS124 C' clone. Plextor haven't made their own drives for years now.
silvytv Posted December 3, 2012 Author Posted December 3, 2012 I tried right now, but get Always the following message: "I 18:47:46 Book Type Setting: N/A (Reason: Invalid Command Operation Code)"
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 So if you manually try to use the LiteOn tab for the booktype stuff it fails yeah?
silvytv Posted December 3, 2012 Author Posted December 3, 2012 So if you manually try to use the LiteOn tab for the booktype stuff it fails yeah? I can choose the booktype in the LineOn tab and I get a "successfull" popup, but when I write the disk, the message "Book Type Setting: N/A (Reason: Invalid Command Operation Code)" Always appears. May it be a Windows 8 driver stuff?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 That's to be expected. The 'auto change booktype' code will be attempting to use the Plextor command set. If you add the drive id under the LiteOn heading within the 'Advanced' section of the booktype feature, it'll use the LiteOn ones instead.
