FireStarter Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 I am trying to retrieve the info which burner was used to burn specific media. Switching to read mode i get something like ************** Disc Definition Structure: Certified: No Scanned: No Manufacturers Name: PIONEER Additional ID: BW-12D1S-U ************** Disc Definition Structure: Certified: No Scanned: No Manufacturers Name: PLEXTOR BD-R PX-LB950SA1 Additional ID: PLDS ************** Disc Control Blocks Information: PLEXTOR ************** Recording Management Area Information: PLEXTOR BD-R PX-LB9 BD-R PX-LB950SA or sometimes no data My questions: 1) Does the firmware of the drive write these data or does it depend also on the burning software? 2) The first 2 examples are BD-R the other 2 DVD+R. Does the used structure depend on the media or is it just accident where to find the data? 3) Do RW-Disc never have these data or is the data stored of the first or last burner? Same question for multi-session discs. 4) data of the first disc: Manufacturers Name: PIONEER - can i conclude 100% from this that the ASUS drive is a relabeled Pioneer?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 1. The firmware. 2. Depends on the media format. 3. To be honest, I don't know. If it records it at all, I'd assume it to be from the last burner that burnt it. 4. Yes. Additional Google searches for your drive model and 'pioneer' would confirm that.
FireStarter Posted December 10, 2012 Author Posted December 10, 2012 Thx for the fast reply. I tried to google it but didnt find the information within an acceptable time (< 15 min). At least ImgBurn helped me to know now more about my hardware :-)
