Hello

I have been getting some very low quality burns lately. I'm using ImgBurn 2.5.7.0 on 64bit Windows 7. I have an Optiarc AD-7191A burner (firmware version 1.05 which is the newest) and I'm using Verbatim's MCC 03RG20 DVD-Rs which are from India. The top disc was burnt at 8x speed, the bottom one at 12x. The quality tests show the burns to be very low quality. Both tests were done at 12x speed.

What could be causing such low quality burns? The media tests with MCC 03RG20 on this forum show good results, why are mine so bad? Could it be that Verbatim's quality control has gone down the toilet?

You always can't compare scans between different drives from the same Manaufacturer, let alone a different one using a different chipset.

Stick to Lite-On drives for scanning discs.

Thanks for Your reply. Yes, I know the scans of the same manufacturer's different model drives can be different.

However, I am a bit amazed at the quality test's results, especially the 12x write speed one. I wouldn't think scanning this disc would produce much better results on any drive or am I wrong?

I tested some of my old discs, out of curiosity. Same model Verbatim (mcc 03rg20), but made in Japan produced much better results as did Traxdata, which is a cheaper brand.

I've never used an Optiarc for scanning - I really have no idea what their scans look like or if they're even any good at scanning full stop.

I would not expect a burn from an Optiarc on that media to look like that when scanned on a Lite-On.... unless there was something wrong with the drive/media.

As you aren't scanning with hardware I know or trust, I can't really comment.
