Creating file from DVD recorded disc that can be immediately playable from memory/file.

In March 2012 I downloaded Imgburn to my HP laptop with windows 7 system in order to create files in my hard drive using pre-recorded discs recorded on a DVD/VCR recorder of sports shows on TV. Then using Imgburn I was able to create a file which is readily accessable and playable directly from my hard drive. Now this year wanting to again create a file of my Univ of Ala Nat'l Championship win over N Dame, all I can do (using the same instructions I had in Mar 2012) is create a Burnable file. What happened between Mar 2012 and now? Any suggestions?

It only ever made the same thing. Maybe you had a player that could play ISO files directly? Some will.
