J-Wo Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I am trying to write dual layer media using FujiFilm DVD+R DL (Ritek D01) on my BenQ 1640, but keep getting an I/O error: check condition at random times during the burn. I had the latest firmware installed (BSRB), but recently made 2 coasters. So I tried downgrading to BSLB, which I read on cdfreaks was a more "reliable" firmware. This time I put ImgBurn in Test mode but I got the error at 99% completion. I should note that I had used MediaSpeedCodeEdit on both firmwares to increasing read/ripping speed on the drive, and I had used QSuite to turn on overburning (which I don't think makes a difference with my 2.4x DL media anyway). Should I try another firmware without MSCE or QSuite? Here's my log: I 18:19:17 ImgBurn Version 2.0.0.0 started! cornholio7 Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 ditch those discs as soon as possible , buy some verbatim +R dual layer discs and have problem free burns
lfcrule1972 Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 I tested those DVD+R DL's myself and they were awful....check out the tests below...... http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=693 Then compare them with a Verbatim DVD+R DL.....
J-Wo Posted September 7, 2006 Author Posted September 7, 2006 (edited) thanks for the help guys. I know this media is cheap, but I had no problems with a previous 15 disc spindle. Now I'm on my second and am having problems with the last 4 discs... I wasn't sure if it was the discs or my drive giving me problems. Nevertheless I do have some new Verbatim DVD+R DL I bought on sale so I will do another Test Mode run on them. I noticed they are 8x speed discs and right now ImgBurn is doing a test write at that speed (didn't know my drive could do that speed on DL discs!). If the test comes out okay, is it safe for me to write at 8x? I certainly hope so, 2.4x is just too darn slow for me! edit: okay, 8x on MKM-001 just failed at 99% of the test! So sad... will try lower speed... here's the log: I 07:05:49 Operation Started! I 07:05:49 Building Image Tree... I 07:05:49 Checking Directory Depth... I 07:05:49 Calculating Totals... LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 You've probably hit the glitch in v2.0 with DL burns and 32k padding. Wait for v2.1
J-Wo Posted September 7, 2006 Author Posted September 7, 2006 Oh that's right, I forgot that I did encounter these errors after upgrading to v2.0! I'll wait for v2.1, but in the meantime should I downgrade to an older version and go back to building DL videos with PgcEdit and burning with ImgBurn?
blutach Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 v2.1 is on Santa's sleigh any day now. Regards
