Smallen Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 (edited) So my father had very old cine film converted onto a DVD by a company and he was guaranteed that he would be able to burn this one DVD onto other blanks, so he asked me to do this as he isn't the best with computers, I then quickly googled how to transfer files from one DVD to another and was shortly brought to ImgBurn, I had the files from the original DVD on my computer and so I went ahead using ImgBurn to burn the files onto the disk, it was all going smoothly till it came to checking the DVD to see if it read and it failed every sector, it went up to about sector 200 and had failed every single one so I gave up and closed the program. Does anyone know what the problem is? I am using Verbatim DVD-RW and I made sure it was writing at 4x which is what the disk says. Thanks, Sam. P.S I tried the disk on my DVD player and the files seem to be there but the player says it cannot play these files. P.S.S Link to program log: http://puu.sh/215lf Edited February 11, 2013 by Smallen
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Please post the log so we can see what you're doing and what's happening - as per the pink box up the top.
Smallen Posted February 11, 2013 Author Posted February 11, 2013 posted the log, do you have any suggestions?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Copy and paste ALL of the text please (i.e. including the bit from the burn), the screenshot doesn't really show me anything useful.
Smallen Posted February 11, 2013 Author Posted February 11, 2013 ahhh I closed the program so I dont have the log anymore, should I try again and give you the log then?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 The program saves the log automatically when you close it down. You can access old logs via the 'Help' menu. If all you're doing is burning a disc and trying to get it to verify, try using some write once (DVD-R / DVD+R) discs instead of rewritable stuff. If you must use rewritables, try doing a full erase on them first - oh and make sure they are clean - no fingerprints / dust / scratches etc.
Smallen Posted February 11, 2013 Author Posted February 11, 2013 I only have re writable disks as they are the only ones I purchased, also they are brand new so I doubt the case of being scratched etc will be the problem but I shall check. ; //****************************************\\; ImgBurn Version 2.5.7.0 - Log; Monday, 11 February 2013, 22:10:34; \\****************************************//;;I 21:17:21 ImgBurn Version 2.5.7.0 started!I 21:17:21 Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Edition (6.1, Build 7601 : Service Pack 1)I 21:17:21 Total Physical Memory: 8,368,264 KB - Available: 6,284,892 KBI 21:17:21 Initialising SPTI...I 21:17:21 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...I 21:17:22 -> Drive 1 - Info: Optiarc DVD RW AD-7280S 1.01 (D:) (SATA)I 21:17:22 Found 1 DVD±RW/RAM!I 21:18:26 Operation Started!I 21:18:26 Device: [0:0:0] Optiarc DVD RW AD-7280S 1.01 (D:) (SATA)I 21:18:26 Media Type: DVD-RW (Disc ID: MCC 01RW4X)I 21:18:26 Media Supported Write Speeds: 4xI 21:18:26 Quick Erase: YesI 21:18:49 Erasing Disc...I 21:19:20 Operation Successfully Completed! - Duration: 00:00:54I 21:19:20 Operation Started!I 21:19:20 Building Image Tree...W 21:19:20 Skipped Hidden File: C:\Users\Sam\Videos\DVD Video Recording\VIDEO_TS\Thumbs.dbI 21:19:39 Checking Directory Depth...I 21:19:39 Calculating Totals...I 21:19:39 Preparing Image...I 21:19:39 Checking Path Length...I 21:19:39 Contents: 10 Files, 2 FoldersI 21:19:39 Content Type: DVD VideoI 21:19:39 Data Type: MODE1/2048I 21:19:39 File System(s): ISO9660, UDF (1.02)I 21:19:39 Volume Label: DVD Video RecordingI 21:19:39 IFO/BUP 32K Padding: EnabledI 21:19:39 Region Code: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8I 21:19:39 TV System: PALI 21:19:40 Size: 4,398,176,256 bytesI 21:19:40 Sectors: 2,147,547I 21:19:40 Image Size: 4,398,776,320 bytesI 21:19:40 Image Sectors: 2,147,840I 21:19:49 Operation Successfully Completed! - Duration: 00:00:28I 21:19:49 Operation Started!I 21:19:49 Source File: -==/\/[bUILD IMAGE]\/\==-I 21:19:49 Source File Sectors: 2,147,840 (MODE1/2048)I 21:19:49 Source File Size: 4,398,776,320 bytesI 21:19:49 Source File Volume Identifier: DVD Video RecordingI 21:19:49 Source File Volume Set Identifier: 424BAA6A0020C5F8I 21:19:49 Source File Application Identifier: IMGBURN V2.5.7.0 - THE ULTIMATE IMAGE BURNER!I 21:19:49 Source File Implementation Identifier: ImgBurnI 21:19:49 Source File File System(s): ISO9660, UDF (1.02)I 21:19:49 Destination Device: [0:0:0] Optiarc DVD RW AD-7280S 1.01 (D:) (SATA)I 21:19:49 Destination Media Type: DVD-RW (Disc ID: MCC 01RW4X)I 21:19:49 Destination Media Supported Write Speeds: 4xI 21:19:49 Destination Media Sectors: 2,297,888I 21:19:49 Write Mode: DVDI 21:19:49 Write Type: DAOI 21:19:49 Write Speed: 4xI 21:19:49 Link Size: AutoI 21:19:49 Lock Volume: YesI 21:19:49 Test Mode: NoI 21:19:49 OPC: NoI 21:19:49 BURN-Proof: EnabledI 21:19:49 Write Speed Successfully Set! - Effective: 5,540 KB/s (4x)I 21:19:50 Filling Buffer... LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 You're going to have to buy some other discs.
Smallen Posted February 12, 2013 Author Posted February 12, 2013 okay thanks, what disks would you recommend?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 The same as what you've got there probably (I assume they're Verbatim?), but either DVD-R or DVD+R and not DVD-RW or DVD+RW. I also use Taiyo Yuden (Victor JVC) discs myself.
