tutti-frutti Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Hello I'm trying to burn an ISO onto a couple of CDs (CD-R) - the ISO is too big for just one disc so I've clicked "write to end of disc (truncate)". However, burn has failed and I don't understand why. Any help would be appreciated. Here is the full log: I 14:47:40 ImgBurn Version 2.5.7.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Try the other supported write speeds. If they also fail, buy better discs. Oh and obviously you should be using DVDs if you want to burn that image successfully in its entirety, not CDs. The image won't span discs.
tutti-frutti Posted March 7, 2013 Author Posted March 7, 2013 I was told CDs would be OK but obviously not!! Would you please explain what "cannot format medium" actually means? Does it refer to the quality of the CD (which is Philips) or that it is a CD instead of a DVD?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Yeah, you were told wrong It's the first error that's important, not what comes up after a retry. So in your case, that's... W 14:54:40 Failed to Write Sectors 147840 - 147871 - Reason: Write Error Your drive was simply unable to write to the disc and reported a 'Write Error'. The error wasn't caused by you using a CD instead of a DVD, it was just caused by your drive not liking the disc very much - or at least not at 10x.
