bobwhat Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 I have been having a problem with imgburn either burning at too high of a speed or reporting too high of speed. The funny thing is graph data is inconsistent with what imgburn is telling me (both write and verify graph data). I don't think 35.5x is even possible for dvd read speed (correct me if i am wrong ) Using this drive and other drives I have no problems with the burned discs, also quality tests and transfer rate tests are ok I have tried restoring defualt settings, tried resetting dma, tried setting the Automatic write speed to 12x for the media i was using, tried just using the 12x speed from the drop down menu. The problem persist in the newest version of the program too. I have also tried diffrent chipset/storage drivers. Cycling the tray before verify makes no diffrence with the verifying speed imgburn reports. It still done the same way Burning a test disc in optodrive control at 12x did ok (it reported the correct speed) I have looked on this forum and other forums for answers but did not find any. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated I hope I am posting this to the right forum I am not for sure if this is a bug in imgburn or a specific problem on my end Thank You for any help and Thank You LIGHTNING UK! for the great program I 22:36:30 ImgBurn Version 2.5.4.0 started!I 22:36:30 Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3)I 22:36:30 Total Physical Memory: 2,096,368 KB - Available: 1,610,032 KBI 22:36:30 Initialising SPTI...I 22:36:30 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...I 22:36:30 -> Drive 1 - Info: TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-224BB SB00 (W:) (ATA)I 22:36:30 Found 1 DVD±RW/RAM!I 22:39:21 Operation Started!I 22:39:21 Building Image Tree...I 22:39:21 Checking Directory Depth...I 22:39:21 Calculating Totals...I 22:39:21 Preparing Image...I 22:39:21 Checking Path Length...I 22:39:21 Contents: 6 Files, 0 FoldersI 22:39:21 Content Type: DataI 22:39:21 Data Type: MODE1/2048I 22:39:21 File System(s): ISO9660, UDF (1.02)I 22:39:21 Volume Label: 04-17-2013I 22:39:21 Size: 4,559,909,320 bytesI 22:39:21 Sectors: 2,226,522I 22:39:21 Image Size: 4,560,486,400 bytesI 22:39:21 Image Sectors: 2,226,800I 22:39:22 Operation Successfully Completed! - Duration: 00:00:01I 22:39:22 Operation Started!I 22:39:22 Source File: -==/\/[bUILD IMAGE]\/\==-I 22:39:22 Source File Sectors: 2,226,800 (MODE1/2048)I 22:39:22 Source File Size: 4,560,486,400 bytesI 22:39:22 Source File Volume Identifier: 04-17-2013I 22:39:22 Source File Volume Set Identifier: 4291B4EA0021FA68I 22:39:22 Source File Application Identifier: IMGBURN V2.5.4.0 - THE ULTIMATE IMAGE BURNER!I 22:39:22 Source File Implementation Identifier: ImgBurnI 22:39:22 Source File File System(s): ISO9660, UDF (1.02)I 22:39:22 Destination Device: [0:0:0] TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-224BB SB00 (W:) (ATA)I 22:39:22 Destination Media Type: DVD+R (Disc ID: MCC-004-00) (Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x, 10x, 12x, 14x, 16x)I 22:39:22 Destination Media Sectors: 2,295,104I 22:39:22 Write Mode: DVDI 22:39:22 Write Type: DAOI 22:39:22 Write Speed: 12xI 22:39:22 DVD+R Reserve Track: NoI 22:39:22 Link Size: AutoI 22:39:22 Lock Volume: YesI 22:39:22 Test Mode: NoI 22:39:22 OPC: NoI 22:39:22 BURN-Proof: EnabledI 22:39:22 Write Speed Successfully Set! - Effective: 16,620 KB/s (12x)I 22:39:22 Book Type Setting: DVD-ROMI 22:39:23 Filling Buffer... LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 It's not a problem, just a little cosmetic issue. There's probably a slight delay somewhere which registers as a really slow speed, before things then catch up and register as a really high speed. Just ignore it. Go back to 2.5.7.0 though.
bobwhat Posted April 18, 2013 Author Posted April 18, 2013 After some investigation with a stopwatch i found I have a competely diffrent problem. I compared data on a dvd with data on the harddrive with cdcheck, It reported finishing in 2:45 but it really took 4:54, the cpu had a load of 15-20 percent during that time and I noticed the time on my computer intermittently pausing and resuming during that time. I than used the verify function in imgburn It reported reading back the disc in 4:50 There was about a 5 percent cpu load during this time. Thank You
bobwhat Posted April 20, 2013 Author Posted April 20, 2013 I am posting this so maybe it will help someone in the future, Thank you Lightning UK for pointing out a delay was causing it, that put me on the right path to find the problem. After chasing down one false fix after another I finally figured out my problem. So Windows was losing time (not the bios) because a reboot or just putting the computer in standby than waking it would restore the correct time. This seemed to happen when burning and verifying dvds but cpu usage was not causing the problem (Did not lose time when using handbrake to encode a video). Anyway the problem was happening when a usb wireless adapter was plugged in even though the wireless connection was disabled when i was not using it. So I guess I will have to leave it unplugged when not using or find a better driver.Windows still lost a few seconds a minute during burning, but it is nowhere near as bad as it was beforeSnippets of a Burn Log with adapter disconnectedI 01:31:12 Write Speed Successfully Set! - Effective: 16,620 KB/s (12x)I 01:38:13 Operation Successfully Completed! - Duration: 00:07:01I 01:38:13 Average Write Rate: 11,711 KB/s (8.5x) - Maximum Write Rate: 18,038 KB/s (13.0x)I 01:43:07 Operation Successfully Completed! - Duration: 00:04:49I 01:43:07 Average Verify Rate: 15,424 KB/s (11.1x) - Maximum Verify Rate: 22,239 KB/s (16.1x)Thanks
