alokbina Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 (edited) Hello everybody, Sorry for trouble but had a question. I have read the forum rules, searched accordingly both google and this forum, read much threads but didn't found a suitable solution so asking you guys. I'm sorry if this is a wrong section for it. This is my first post. I have a backtrack 5 r3 cd and wanted to run in one of my laptops but unfortunately the laptop I want to run it doesn't support dvds. So I decided to make iso of the dvd, then make a live usb and install the software. I'm using imgburn 2.5.7.0. I know this can happen due to scratches but not here. This cd doesn't have scratches. I've also tried to run it in one of the laptops that runs dvd and it installs perfectly. Here's a log: ;;; //****************************************\\; ImgBurn Version 2.5.7.0 - Log; Sunday, 21 April 2013, 16:07:43; \\****************************************//;;I 15:57:19 ImgBurn Version 2.5.7.0 started!I 15:57:19 Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Edition (6.1, Build 7601 : Service Pack 1)I 15:57:19 Total Physical Memory: 8,335,216 KB - Available: 5,640,432 KBW 15:57:19 Drive E:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4 GB in size.I 15:57:19 Initialising SPTI...I 15:57:19 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...I 15:57:26 -> Drive 1 - Info: hp DVDRAM GT50N MP00 (F:) (ATAPI)I 15:57:26 -> Drive 2 - Info: ZTE USB SCSI CD-ROM 2.31 (G:) (USB)I 15:57:26 Found 1 CD-ROM and 1 DVD±RW/RAM!I 15:57:43 Operation Started!I 15:57:43 Source Device: [0:1:0] hp DVDRAM GT50N MP00 (F:) (ATAPI)I 15:57:43 Source Media Type: DVD-ROM (Book Type: DVD-ROM)I 15:57:43 Source Media Sectors: 1,608,944 (Track Path: PTP)I 15:57:43 Source Media Size: 3,295,117,312 bytesI 15:57:43 Source Media Volume Identifier: BT5I 15:57:43 Source Media Application Identifier: GENISOIMAGE ISO 9660/HFS FILESYSTEM CREATOR © 1993 E.YOUNGDALE © 1997-2006 J.PEARSON/J.SCHILLING © 2006-2007 CDRKIT TEAMI 15:57:43 Source Media File System(s): ISO9660 (Bootable), JolietI 15:57:43 Read Speed (Data/Audio): MAX / 8xI 15:57:43 Destination File: C:\BT5.ISOI 15:57:43 Destination Free Space: 490,375,385,088 Bytes (478,882,212.00 KB) (467,658.41 MB) (456.70 GB)I 15:57:43 Destination File System: NTFSI 15:57:43 File Splitting: AutoI 15:57:46 Reading Session 1 of 1... LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 The drive just can't read the disc. Try another drive if you can, it may do a better job. If they all fail to read it at the same point, you either have a faulty disc or it's copy protected.

The disc isn't faulty and the drive too is alright..but the disk no matter whatever software I try gets stuck at 48% and this..and how do I know if it's copy protected? Best Regards, AJ
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Unless you try a few more of those discs, how can you rule it out as being faulty? Likewise with the drive? Some are better readers than others. As for copy protection, you'd have to ask the people that produced/manufactured the disc.

Well the disc runs well enough and imgburn I had used to make images from some other discs with same drive so no prob in that..anyways thanks for help....
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 'Running' it isn't exactly the same as attempting to read every single sector on it. Like I said, if you have access to some other drives, try to read the disc in those. Some will get hung up on discs that others have no problem at all with.
