BB88 Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 I am trying to burn some personal video I mastered myself (with Tsunami DVD Author Pro). I have used RitekD01 (crap) and Verbatim MKM001 +DL, and I almost always get a "Power Calibration Area error" either at the layer break or at the end of the burn. I tried 2.4x and 4x burn speed, and 4x usually went through. But either way, the final burned disc shows as empty on the same drive on the PC, and show as "no disc" on standalone DVD player. Can anyone help me? I used the "Write" option for the above. Later I found the "Build" option, and selected 1 of the 2 layer break points (both are average star), and the burn still gives an error at the end (forgot what it was) but when I retried it went through, and the disc play fine. My burner is a Liteon 165H6S
LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 I assume you've checked you're on the latest firmware for your LiteOn burner? Verbatims are the best DL disc by far. If you're already using those, you (or I) can do nothing more. You might have a duff bunch of discs or your drive might be duff (such that it just can't burn any DL media).
BB88 Posted September 12, 2006 Author Posted September 12, 2006 (edited) Yes I got the latest firmware. I have tried the 2nd box of disc already. I am wondering if the problem is with the video I authored myself? I tried to burned a ripped movie and the burn is fine (it asked about layer break and I just pressed 'revert to IFO....') LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 The data you're burning is of no consequence here. The drive just sees it as generic data, it doesn't know (or care) what it is. Try cleaning your drive with one of those cleaning discs and maybe some compressed air (in a can). Other than that, if it happens all the time I'd have to say your drive is faulty. Try getting it replaced.

Here's my original thread: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/397172#2405750 Looks like I need to buy a new writer? My memorex :-( is only a few months old. My burner is a Liteon 165H6S I am experiencing exactly the same problem: Lite-On 165H6S, latest firmware (HS0E) Verbatim MKM001 +DL "Potential 'WaitImmediateIO' Deferred Error - (0/2) - Power Calibration Area Error" The problem only occurs on DL writes 4x - 1 error but completes OK 2.4x - multiple Power Calibration Area errors, then Close Track Failed! - Reason: Power Calibration Area Error Finalising Disc... Finalise Disc Failed! - Reason: Session Fixation Error - Incomplete Track in Session <coaster> I've owned several Lite-Ons. This is the newest and the first one I've ever had any problems with. Could this be a problem inherent with the Lite-On 165H6S? Or something else? Any ideas?

Kenadjian Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 A couple things to try. Give your drive a good clean and lower your burn speed to 2.4x, that's for the first part of your log. Also from your first log, see if you can change the book type to DVD-ROM, this will make it more compatable with stand alone players. Book Type: DVD+R DLNow for the second log. Sessions: 2 ImgBurn does not support multi session. Hope this helps.
