Sabian Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 The DVD I made will play in some players, not all. It plays in my Sharp BD, my computer and a friends, but not on other brands. The source is an AVCHD file, so not sure if the HD is the problem? I've also tried both DVD-R & DVD+R discs. My friend's computer that can play it is an older one without BD capacity...I have the log, but for some reason I can't paste it so I've attached it...thanks!log.txt I 22:57:44 ImgBurn Version 2.5.7.0 started!I 22:57:44 Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Edition (6.1, Build 7601 : Service Pack 1)I 22:57:44 Total Physical Memory: 8,380,492 KB - Available: 6,043,912 KBI 22:57:44 Initialising SPTI...I 22:57:44 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...I 22:57:44 -> Drive 1 - Info: HL-DT-ST BDDVDRW GBC-H20L 1.B8 (E:) (RAID)I 22:57:44 -> Drive 2 - Info: HP DVD Writer 1260r MH22 (F:) (RAID)I 22:57:44 Found 1 DVD±RW/RAM and 1 BD-ROM/DVD±RW!I 22:58:42 Operation Started!I 22:58:42 Building Image Tree...I 22:58:42 Checking Directory Depth...I 22:58:42 Calculating Totals...I 22:58:42 Preparing Image...I 22:58:42 Checking Path Length...I 22:58:42 Contents: 7 Files, 2 FoldersI 22:58:42 Content Type: DVD VideoI 22:58:42 Data Type: MODE1/2048I 22:58:42 File System(s): ISO9660, UDF (1.02)I 22:58:42 Volume Label: [Not Configured]I 22:58:42 IFO/BUP 32K Padding: EnabledI 22:58:42 Region Code: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6I 22:58:42 TV System: NTSCI 22:58:42 Size: 2,708,963,328 bytesI 22:58:42 Sectors: 1,322,736I 22:58:42 Image Size: 2,709,585,920 bytesI 22:58:42 Image Sectors: 1,323,040I 22:58:42 Operation Successfully Completed! - Duration: 00:00:00I 22:58:47 Operation Started!I 22:58:47 Building Image Tree...I 22:58:47 Checking Directory Depth...I 22:58:47 Calculating Totals...I 22:58:47 Preparing Image...I 22:58:48 Checking Path Length...I 22:58:48 Contents: 7 Files, 2 FoldersI 22:58:48 Content Type: DVD VideoI 22:58:48 Data Type: MODE1/2048I 22:58:48 File System(s): ISO9660, UDF (1.02)I 22:58:48 Volume Label: [Not Configured]I 22:58:48 IFO/BUP 32K Padding: EnabledI 22:58:48 Region Code: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6I 22:58:48 TV System: NTSCI 22:58:48 Size: 2,708,963,328 bytesI 22:58:48 Sectors: 1,322,736I 22:58:48 Image Size: 2,709,585,920 bytesI 22:58:48 Image Sectors: 1,323,040I 22:58:48 Operation Successfully Completed! - Duration: 00:00:00I 23:05:47 Operation Started!I 23:05:47 Building Image Tree...I 23:05:56 Checking Directory Depth...I 23:05:56 Calculating Totals...I 23:05:56 Preparing Image...I 23:05:56 Checking Path Length...I 23:05:56 Contents: 7 Files, 2 FoldersI 23:05:56 Content Type: DVD VideoI 23:05:56 Data Type: MODE1/2048I 23:05:56 File System(s): ISO9660, UDF (1.02)I 23:05:56 Volume Label: Disc1I 23:05:56 IFO/BUP 32K Padding: EnabledI 23:05:56 Region Code: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6I 23:05:56 TV System: NTSCI 23:05:56 Size: 2,708,963,328 bytesI 23:05:56 Sectors: 1,322,736I 23:05:56 Image Size: 2,709,585,920 bytesI 23:05:56 Image Sectors: 1,323,040I 23:05:58 Operation Successfully Completed! - Duration: 00:00:10I 23:05:58 Operation Started!I 23:05:58 Source File: -==/\/[bUILD IMAGE]\/\==-I 23:05:58 Source File Sectors: 1,323,040 (MODE1/2048)I 23:05:58 Source File Size: 2,709,585,920 bytesI 23:05:58 Source File Volume Identifier: Disc1I 23:05:58 Source File Volume Set Identifier: 42B9B8B700143015I 23:05:58 Source File Application Identifier: IMGBURN V2.5.7.0 - THE ULTIMATE IMAGE BURNER!I 23:05:58 Source File Implementation Identifier: ImgBurnI 23:05:58 Source File File System(s): ISO9660, UDF (1.02)I 23:05:58 Destination Device: [2:2:0] HL-DT-ST BDDVDRW GBC-H20L 1.B8 (E:) (RAID)I 23:05:58 Destination Media Type: DVD+R (Disc ID: RICOHJPN-R03-04)I 23:05:58 Destination Media Supported Write Speeds: 8x, 12xI 23:05:58 Destination Media Sectors: 2,295,104I 23:05:58 Write Mode: DVDI 23:05:58 Write Type: DAOI 23:05:58 Write Speed: MAXI 23:05:58 DVD+R Reserve Track: NoI 23:05:58 Link Size: AutoI 23:05:58 Lock Volume: YesI 23:05:58 Test Mode: NoI 23:05:58 OPC: NoI 23:05:58 BURN-Proof: EnabledI 23:05:58 Write Speed Successfully Set! - Effective: 16,620 KB/s (12x)I 23:05:58 Book Type Setting: N/A (Reason: Invalid Command Operation Code)I 23:05:58 Filling Buffer... LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 It burnt / verified ok and the TV system is shown as NTSC which would be right for the US so in theory everything should work just fine in a player that can actually read the disc. Perhaps try again with some decent Verbatim / Taiyo Yuden discs. Obviously I have no way of knowing if the conversion from AVCHD to DVD Video format worked ok or which program you used for the job. If you have a home made disc that does play on those other players, copy it onto a new blank (like the one you just used) and see if the players can still play it. At least then you'll know if it's the source files that are the problem or the discs themselves.
Sabian Posted May 26, 2013 Author Posted May 26, 2013 (edited) Thanks for the response...I used AVS to edit the video. It gives you the option to save as a BD or a DVD. I'm going to resave it as a DVD and see if that helps. I did notice that the video files are VOB, could that be it as well? Regarding the brand of DVD's, I've used Maxell and some off brand called Khypermedia...both of which I've used before with no issues. Edited May 26, 2013 by Sabian
