Nearly every time I try and burn a DVD, I get errors all over the place. I have tried reading around and tried a few things. Such as increasing the Buffer size of the I/O and Build.

Seems like it's either a drive error or a hard drive error. But I just don't know.

I've also completely erased my disk and reinstalled Windows (on an iMac mid 2011 through Bootcamp; as well as OS X on a separate partition).

It's happening nearly every time and is really annoying me! :(

Can anyone shed some light on my issue please?

Latest failure ImgBurn log is below. It shows a completed burn, and a failed one. Seems the larger the image the higher the failure rate.

P.s. I aborted the Verify on the 1st burn for time reasons.

EDIT: Could what is being discussed here be of concern to me? Seems coincidentally related. Link: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=21682

Have you tried with a speed other than 2x? That might not be a good one for your drive/firmware/media combo... faster speeds might actually produce better quality (and less prone to a complete failure) discs.

As for the buffer thing, well that's down to your machine. It took 8 seconds to fill the program's 512MiB buffer so that seems fine but it then took over a minute for activity on your hdd to settle down. Is the machine busy with other stuff? Maybe something like a defrag was kicking in or something.

I had no idea burning at a higher speed could help. I've always thought burning at as lower speed as possible is the way to go. Never seemed to have problems on previous machines.

Seems I've had my head in the sand too long :D

I use Verbatim DVD-R and my drive is an Optiarc AD-5680H with firmware 3AHF.

It's a completely fresh install of Windows 7. I even had zeros written to the entire disk (WD Caviar Black - 1TB), 35 times. So fragmentation is not an issue.

What in Windows 7 could suddenly come into play and ruin it? I have AVG Free Edition installed. Could it be the AV?

Could it be something to do with the Windows cache? Or maybe the burner's cache? RAM?

I am at a complete loss :(
