Drive is now VERY SLOW !

ImgBurn Version 2.5.8.0

 

First couple of DVDs burned normally (relative to Nero @ 8 Speed)

IE Duration: 00:09:08

Average Write Rate: 9,287 KiB/s (6.9x) - Maximum Write Rate: 11,123 KiB/s (8.2x)

and Duration: 00:09:23

Average Write Rate: 9,096 KiB/s (6.7x) - Maximum Write Rate: 11,098 KiB/s (8.2x)

 

But the last 2 DVDs have been Burned (and Verified) very slowly

Duration: 00:49:09

Average Write Rate: 1,584 KiB/s (1.2x) - Maximum Write Rate: 2,131 KiB/s (1.6x)

and

Duration: 00:50:44

Average Write Rate: 1,517 KiB/s (1.1x) - Maximum Write Rate: 2,066 KiB/s (1.5x)

 

Verify went from: Duration: 00:05:24
Average Verify Rate: 14,117 KiB/s (10.4x) - Maximum Verify Rate: 19,684 KiB/s (14.6x)

To: Duration: 00:31:30
Average Verify Rate: 2,415 KiB/s (1.8x) - Maximum Verify Rate: 2,712 KiB/s (2.0x)

 

What is going on ???

DMA issues probably.

 

Try resetting DMA via the feature in the Tools menu. If that doesn't work, follow the entry in the FAQ.

What could have changed the setting ?

Windows XP is known for dropping drives back to PIO mode.
