When dumping iso instead of bin, imgBurn freezes at 99%

I am having a weird issue with dumping a cd image.

First-off, I want to state that this doesn't happen with every cd image, but the one it is currently happening to, I have successfully dumped it as a bin about 10 times no errors, but the moment I ask it to save as ISO (gives me the yoda message) it freezes at 99%, although it did work for all of the other cd's I used.

and if that wasn't bad enough, it won't let me close the program so I have to force it to close, then if I right click on my blue ray drive icon, it freezes explorer (which I can restart) but it makes no difference, I end up having to restart the pc, only to find that it then freezes at the "preparing to shutdown" screen, forcing me to hold the power button and hard reset it.

I have uninstalled daemon tools and it's drivers (it was complaining about them in the log, it doesn't any more)
I have tried slower read speeds.
I have tried returning the settings to default.

I have tried canceling at 99% and waiting, but it just sits there for hours.
I have looked at all my drivers (for sata and firmware for my cd drive, among other things) they are all up to date.
I have multiple copies of the same original disc, and this occurs with BOTH copies.
It is a brand new drive, so it isn't dirty (this is the first time I have used it in fact).
The cd reads just fine, I opened it up and played it
The iso image that it makes seems to be complete, I can open it up and use it.

I am not sure what to do about this issue, I don't mind dumping in bin, but this seems like a pretty serious bug, and I was attempting to be uniform in my data types (iso)

This is my Blu-ray drive:
http://www.lg.com/us/data-storage/lg-WH14NS40

I am on Windows 7 x64 fully updated with the latest updates
ASUS sabertooth Z87 motherboard
i7 4770k (if that even matters)

The cd image is "Galaxy of Games 3" (crappy shareware games disc, I have a box full of em')
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0017DL8Y6/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used

I am attempting to dump a normal 700mb windows data cd (from windows 95 era, just like all the rest of the cd's I am dumping)

I am about 99.9% sure the problem is when it goes to convert it to mode 1 (iso), is this a known issue or wha? It seems like a pretty nasty little bug.

is there a way I can run diagnostics or some sort of debug for you guys to give you an idea of what is going on?

Another Symptom I forgot is that the read rate hits zero and my blu-ray drive stops spinning. I don't have another pc with a cd drive or I would try another computer;

Thanks!

also, I can dump it as ISO in MagicISO no problem, so it seems to be pretty much specific to ImgBurn, I really doubt it is my hardware or media,
I have similar discs like "Galaxy of Games 2" that I compared to the one giving me problems and it seemed to have all the same extensions.

the disk seemed to have hidden GID files, also when I rip it directly from the CD in windows and try to build a mode1 ISO 9660, it says that I had 470 files renamed, not sure if that is common place.

these are easily fixed by checking the box to include hidden files, then there is this error, which I couldn't get rid of, although I could reduce the amount it changes with some options

The right-pane reads as follows:

-> Track 01 (LTSA: 0, LTS: 134032, LRA: 0)

also I would like to note, that I am ok with it giving me an error saying I cannot copy it, the problem really is that it bombs out and freezes my computer, when it tries.

I also know of another cd doing the exact same thing, here is what it reads:

Now please right click the drive drop down section box and click 'Family Tree'. Close the prompt and then copy + paste everything from the Log window.

I can't see a problem with the sizes of the disc (as reported by the drive), but I can only assume the drive is having trouble reading the last few sectors or something and any attempt to do so just makes your machine hang. Freezes like that are at a lower level than ImgBurn - so it's probably driver related.

I thought that at first, but my drivers are up to date (at least from what I could find, intel is a bit hard for me to know for sure, but windows sure seems to think so as well)

I 15:06:05 -> ACPI x64-based PC
I 15:06:05 -> Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System
I 15:06:05 -> PCI bus
I 15:06:05 -> Intel® 8 Series/C220 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller (VEN_8086&DEV_8C02 - Intel - iaStorA - v9.4.0.1017)
I 15:06:05 -> CD-ROM Drive (HL-DT-ST BD-RE  WH14NS40 SCSI CdRom Device) (Bus Number 3, Target Id 0, LUN 0)

not to say a driver couldn't have an issue of course, or that I am wrong about having up to date driver  :lick:  (But I did look!)

I assume the reason magic ISO worked is due to it not being byte-for-byte clones?
also, if it were drivers wouldn't it freeze when creating a bin as well?

pardon my ignorance when it comes to cd drivers and their standards/usage, it sure would be nice if it were drivers!

(also note, the last couple warnings in the logs from my first post are me attempting to build an iso from windows files, not from the CD, I just realized I wasn't exactly clear in that respect, I was exploring all possibilities :-D)

When converting a Mode 2 disc to ISO format (Mode 1), ImgBurn asks the drive to return just 2048 bytes per sector rather than the usual 2352 (so it's a hardware conversion rather than a software one). Maybe a bug in the drives firmware is preventing it from doing that properly but nothing ImgBurn does itself would make your machine freeze. That's something drivers do - or dodgy hardware maybe. ImgBurn simply submits the I/O commands and waits for a response from the Windows API function that handles it.

I searched and searched and searched, I didn't find the updates, how silly of me, ok I will try this and see how it goes. Obviously I wasn't using the correct terms!

I was assuming that imgburn was actually doing a conversion, I guess it makes sense that it would be my hardware, now that it is explained.

Thanks, I will report back!

Fixed it!

and I learned so much, I think this whole thing could have been avoided if I knew exactly what drivers and HOW to find them :-)

my searches seemed to be too specific, lesson learned!

You have been extremely helpful in this whole situation, thanks for this awesome piece of software!

for some reason won't install it still states v9.4.0.1017 in both imgburn and device manager, but that is another issue I suppose :-D
