The opencandy.com website suggests these ways to avoid their crappy software, which are unfortunately bundled with the ImgBurn installer: :(

  • Beginner: disconnect your internet connection (beware some software needs the internet to complete its install)
  • Intermediate: run the OpenCandy powered installer from the command-line with /NOCANDY
  • Advanced: add a domain block in your firewall for *.opencandy.com

However, I never see their offers, perhaps because the relevant domains are blocked in my MVPS HOSTS file.

Be careful out there, children. It's a real jungle!

Even though I don't get click happy when I run any installer, I do admit to disabling my Internet connection in ZoneAlarm before running installers with OpenCandy wrapped, excuse the pun :D around them. That way, they can't phone home and install something I don't want by accident on my part. Plus, I always take a differential backup image in Macrium Reflect before I run any installer or updater. In case any kind of install does something like that, or just messes up the system in general.

Oh my Fuck! Why don't you just read what the installer says, the first time I installed ImgBurn 2.5.8.0 I read what the installer offers and I have never had a problem!
