ImgBurn IDs CDROM drive for reading CDs, but for writing to CD, it's not in the drop down list

doesn't matter if a blank CD is inserted or not

entry in ImgBurn log identifies the IDE drive as RAID?

I 14:02:16 -> Drive 2 - Info: E-IDE CD -956E/AKV R9HS (H:) (RAID)

AMI bios std cmos IDE Master CD-956E/AKV ATAPI CDROM DMA mode=Auto

in XPsp3 device mgr device is clear, driver is ID'd as MS 7/1/01 5.1.2535.0 digitally signed

driver details

cdrom.sys : 5.1.2600.5593 (xpsp_sp3_qfe.080502-1245)

imapi.sys, redbook.sys, storprop.dll : 5.1.2600.5512 (xpsp.080413-2108)

Your problem is you have a CD ROM drive. That is only for reading discs not for writing them.

If you want to write data to a disc you should buy writer, depending on what types/profile discs you are going to write.

I would recommend a plain DVD writer that supports:

DVD+R

DVD-R

DVD+R DL

etc

If you want to write Blu-ray discs (the drive is more expensive) you would want to but a BD-RE writer :)
