bwbag Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 (edited) Ill apologise in advance for the criminally-left-out burn log. But, its with an Ihas524B with Burnermax. latest version of Imgburn; standard settings with Smartburn and FHT on; Overspeed and OHT off, Perform opc before write off; Havent cleared OPC history since about a dozen burns ago. MKM003 Singapores Burned at 4x Several burns, all seeming to work in the xbox totally fine, installing or playing from disc. Scannign through Kprobe though, the Pi max and average are very low (19 and 0.98 respectively on the latest burn, but all have been roughly the same) and average PIF of 0.14. But all of them seem to hit a pif spike of 8 at the layer break (with a corresponding PI spike which is the max PI)and PIF spiking again very shortly after the layer break. They dont seem to be sustained spikes, just one offs. Have tried a couple of discs from different spindles. Should I be worried given the PIF being more than double recommended max? If a log would be more helpful I'll rattle off another burn and post the log and corresponding Kprobe results. Thanks in advance for help or advice Edited September 17, 2013 by bwbag
LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 If it burns and verifies ok, there's nothing more ImgBurn can do. The quality of the burn comes down to the drive/firmware/media combo. If you're getting a spike them maybe clearing the drive's OPC history will help. You can access old logs via the 'Help' menu - and yes, posting one would be helpful (and a kprobe screenshot too).

LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Yeah the pif levels are a little off around the layerbreak. It's not what I'd class as a spike though, a spike is just a single pixel in width. Maybe clearing opc will help (assuming that log wasn't from after you'd cleared it)... failing that, buy yourself yet another spindle of discs - from a different supplier and see how they go.
bwbag Posted September 18, 2013 Author Posted September 18, 2013 (edited) Cleared OPC, three burns in, we have this. PIF is peaking higher, but seems less of an extended period than before. Will persist with some more burns and see how it goes. Have also included a kprobe scan run in MSF mode to target the affected area and see in greater detail how its going.
