DCal Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 I have been experiencing the same problem as addressed by Spinningwheel and Beck38. I have used my method for copying BRay disks which has been successful in about 1200 instances but has just recently gone totally wrong as I have burnt my first 8 coasters. I first make an unprotected copy of the disk, not a rip, then I make an ISO to confirm Audio/Video sync and then I burn to disk using ImgBurm, which I also use to create the ISO. and frustratingly I have had 7 failures to "finalize" and then I tried simply burning the two folders to disk via ImgBurn and it appeared to be successful but it won't play just as the previous 7. Unfortunately I have not retained the Log File so I don't have it to post, but the next one ruin I will post it, I just hate ruining a disk just to come up with the log file but I don't know how to retrieve them from wherever they reside in the file system of ImgBurn. I have been following the topic that I mentioned in the beginning and every response the guy gets people are telling him that it isn't the fault of the program, and it may very well not be the fault of ImgBurn, but I can't think of what else could be doing this as I have two different BluRay Burners and 4 players and I have tried to burn these ISO's on both machines and had the same result. The strange thing I have had happen is that I have had success using BD-R DL 50GB disk's when I made a copy of a movie that was worthy of having a complete copy to maintain the quality of the original. I will get back to you guys with a log file to post as soon as I have the stomach to intentionally ruin another 25GB disk to produce the Log File, unless there is somewhere that the last log file that ImgBurn produced is stored somewhere and someone can direct me to where I would find it? All in all, I have experienced many years of absolutely GREAT results using ImgBurn and I have abandoned my copies of Nero and Power2Go as I have come to far prefer the simplicity that is built into ImgBurn....... and I am confident I will continue to use it as this problem will be corrected. Dan

DCal Posted October 14, 2013 Author Posted October 14, 2013 Here are the Log files that resulted from the last failed BD-R disks I attempted to burn from .ISO which when mounted play just fine although every time I have tried to burn a 25GB BD-R it appears to complete just fine although the completed disk when left in the BD-RE Drive will cause the drive to go into a state of "not responding" as the drive continues to attempt to access the content. When remove it, the disk, and try it in a stand alone Bluray player it simply comes back with a msg that say "cannot play this disk", yet I have burned well over 1,200 BD-R and BD-R DL disk that play just fine using the same method that now results in failure. LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Your log shows you trying to burn to 'LGEBRA-S06-000' media twice. The only 'LG' discs I've had any experience with were rubbish... perhaps try some others? Anyway... one burn appears successful (no warnings/errors recorded) and the other failed right at the start. You didn't verify the one that worked so we've no way of knowing if the burnt disc was actually readable. 2x may not be the best speed for your drive/firmware/media combo and faster speeds may produce better results. There's a firmware update available for your drive too. http://www.firmwarehq.com/LG/WH12LS38/files.html
DCal Posted October 15, 2013 Author Posted October 15, 2013 One of the disc's that failed I tried to put back in the drive to see if there was a way to finalize the disc after the fact, but that disc had failed although it appeared to complete successfully as when I tried to play the disc in a variety of players it wouldn't play, just as each and every disc I have burned except for one Dual Layer 50GB disc which I burned in a different machine which is why it is not shown in the logs. That "other" machine had not been able to produce a successful burn of the .iso that were destined for 25GB disc's either, and BTW both machines have no problem working with the 50GB DL BD-R. It is an exclusively 25GB disc problem whether I burn it from ISO or as is shown in the log, when I tried to burn from folders without converting to ISO first. As far as the brand of disc is concerned, I have had genuinely good results from them in hundreds of burns and the spindle that the last 8 failures have come out of had produced 30 consecutive successful burns, then I had not used the disc's or the machines for well over a month and a half after having a surgery although I had updated the software. After using it and having the failures I did revert back to the previous version "70" and the same result occurred. I was thinking that perhaps the last twenty BD-R's in the spindle were defective but I really have used hundreds of these and never had any problems, but I suppose that doesn't preclude the potential for a bad number of disc's, even if the first 30 were fine. Frustrating in any event. I will look forward to hearing from you folks. Thank you for the help, Daniel
DCal Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 Hello again guys, Well I thought that I would roll back to v.2.5.5.0 and give it a go with a fresh .ISO and guess what, it again "failed to finalize" again. I have the "Log File" and will attach it to this dialog below. Thanks again, your attention to the users of this software, which has served me with great success for a very long time, is actually better than 98% of the expensive software giants that provide useable software but are not very responsive when problems arise, I will be making a donation as soon as I am able again. I am confident that the problem will be resolved soon enough. I would also ask your advice on a brand of BD-R 25GB that is sold on a spindle of 25 - 50 disc count so I can save money as I am recently disabled and money is a serious issue, as is the case in most households these days. Also, you had mentioned that LG disc's were not something you would suggest and I realized that this 50 disc pack that I have been using is actually the first one that I have purchased under the Optical Quantum branding as these are 6x disc's and the previous disc's I have used were the same brand, Optical Quantum but they were 4x and a different manufacturer which had actually given me very good results, so I am going to guess that your opinion of the LG disc's is quite accurate. I have been considering spending the additional money and going over to Verbatim or TDK and as I mentioned your advise would be appreciated. LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 You went from one extreme to the other with that one... 2x to 'Max' (12x). Try something in the middle - especially if you're saying they're rated for 6x burning. Oh and don't forget about the firmware update I mentioned. Don't cut off the verify section of the log either please. The results of that are important.
DCal Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 I thought the AWS setting was the programs "auto select" burn rate as there is a second setting that says "MAX" and actually I had gone to the 2x setting after using AWS for a long while and every once in awhile I would get a disc that had a skip or hesitation which was why I went to the slow setting thinking that the result would be as accurate as possible and the result generally was better although not perfect as every now and then I still got a little blip in the playback. As far as the "verify" is concerned I can't get that to actually run when the disc failed as the dialog box keeps popping up asking if I want to continue cancel or try again, so when I hit continue it just causes the box to reappear in two or three seconds over and over while making no progress. BTW I did burn another 50GB disc this evening making a back-up of World War Z and it is flawless which has me thinking that the last ten disc's in the spindle are simply no damn good, although I really had perfect results up until this run of failures, I actually made a back-up of Star Trek Into Darkness 3D, Jurassic Park 3D and Hobbit Unexpected Journey 3D and they all completed just fine using those 25GB disc's just last week, just strange and even more so frustrating considering that I am now unable to work which makes the money issue so tight. I have a couple Verbatim 25gb BD-RE disc and I was thinking I would remove the files on them or one of them and then attempt to burn one of these ISO to it and see if it completes well and that will confirm that it is the disc and not anything else. Well good to hear from you again and I will look for your reply if you have any other suggestions, Thanks Daniel
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 AWS means the AWS feature is active. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?/topic/4249-how-to-use-the-automatic-write-speed-aws-feature-in-imgburn/ What does the box say that's popping up? If you cancel out of it, you should still have extra bits in the log that'll help me see what's going on.
