weird problem. getting too long to start writing

Hi there.

tried to resolve this problem searching this forum and other resources, but im stuck :(

im using imgburn 2.5.7.0 to burn some DVDs (verbatim DVD-R)'s from .ISO files i have.

problem is: the drive takes ages to actually start writing, recognising the disc or something. when i going to start writing, it gets SEVERAL minutes while saying "getting disc information", or "terminating auto insert thread", or "locking drive for exclusive access" and such. with "several" i refer to 15+ minutes to actually start writing.

and there goes writing which it does OK

why taking 15 minutes to actually recognise the disc? i tried...

- substitute the drive with another one. the previous one simply freezes (or takes even longer). the actual one is which taking 15 minutes to start writing

- tried imgburn 2.5.8.0 and 2.5.7.0, same results. tried also another software to write. also same history.

- tried to update the VIA VT6421 drivers, but are already up to date (latest version is of april 2011)

im using a VIA VT6421 IDE/SATA controller since DVD writer is LG H55 IDE and my actual motherboard (asrock B75) doesnt have IDE bus, so i have to use a controller card to continue using my IDE writer :/

any possible solution?

thanks in advance
