zagdul Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 I installed the latest version of imgburn on my PC as I have with every computer I've put together as in it's history it's been pretty reputable. However after a bit of browsing the web I began to notice hyperlinks on google searches stopped working within chrome. I thought it was a browser issue but in fact, I find that my computer has monitoring software on it designed to track my behavior on the internet. I remember when this software was advised by Microsoft as a good image mounting and burning platform. I'm all for the author making money off his installation, however devious software such as OpenCandy being installed on my computer by what I previously believed to be clean and solid software now has turned me away. Luckily we have sites like Oldversion so I can get the non-spyware version on my PC. It appears 2.5.6.0 is fine. To the author: I understand wanting to make money for your hard work. I'm a struggling coder myself trying to make ends meet. I see my work being used by other people and it definately hits a spot not getting paid for everything I've done. However, there are much better ways to create and get paid for what you're doing. This is not it. I will be making sure all the people who I've asked to install your software to uninstall and either replace it with other platforms that are trusted or I'll be installing an older version which doesn't have the devious adware you've included. Old Version:
Adrianvdh Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Ha, 2 software developers names are Richard
LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 OpenCandy is just an advertising platform plugin that the installer uses. It doesn't get 'installed' or run outside of the installer - apart from doing its job of installing any programs you were offered and opted in to (or not opted out of) installing during the installation process.
